Ofra Eye Gel Gives Refreshing Light Hydration To The Under Eyes.

I’m perpetually on the hunt for a good eye cream coz my under eye area is as dehydrated as the Sahara! I’ve spent thousands of rupees on high end eye creams which ultimately did nothing for my under eye area. So I’m always keen to try out new eye creams always in the hope that this will be “The One” and when I got the Ofra Eye Gel in the Vellvette box, I was really excited to try it out. Read on to know if this is “The One”….

I got a 30 ml sample of this eye gel, which is very generous considering the full sized product is 36 ml! It came in a plastic bottle with a “spring up” cap which makes it easy to use and very travel friendly. You have to be careful while dispensing the product though, coz if you squeeze the bottle a little hard, you will have more product on your finger than is required. However, some product does remain around the dispensing slot, making it a bit messy. I can’t comment on the packaging of the full-sized product though as I haven’t seen it.

As the name suggests, it is a gel and hence, lightweight. It feels very cool and fresh while going on and is easily absorbed into the skin. The slight cooling, tingly feeling you get reduces the puffiness to quite an extent. It also provides light hydration to the under eye, which is good if your under eye skin is normal and not a competitor with the Sahara Desert!!!

For my severely dehydrated under eye area, it did provide decent hydration for about a couple of hours after which it started feeling dry and tight and I found myself reaching out for a richer eye cream. So now, I mix this eye gel with the other cream (more on that product in another post) and apply it and it comfortably hydrates my under eyes all day. However, I haven’t really noticed any reduction in my fine lines. And I doubt my dark circles will ever reduce especially since I don’t get more than 6 hours of sleep at night. And anyway, we Indians seem to be genetically pre-disposed to under eye dark circles.

I’ve been using this gel daily since a month now, and as you can see, I have more than 3/4th of the bottle left! It is easily going to last me for at least another 3 months so, though expensive, it would definitely be good value for money. (The full sized product is priced at Rs. 3500). Another good thing is that it doesn’t have any parabens, silicones or mineral oil! I am seriously considering re-purchasing it when this gets over. That is, if I don’t find “The One” when I’m travelling….hehehe. (A richer, more hydrating eye cream.)

Availability, however is an issue coz it is only available on the Vellvette website. No stores or other online retailers for this brand yet. And at this price, there are loads of other eye creams and gels available from other better known luxury brands that are more accessible (Shiseido for eg…really want to try their Benefiance eye cream).

Would you buy the Ofra Eye Gel or would you rather spend the same amount on Lancôme/Estée Lauder/Dior/Shiseido etc??? Did any of you get this in your Vellvette box? How did you like it? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Wow! I know – my circles are terrible now, as my sleeping time is what, 4-5 hours? Have you tried the Clinique All About Eyes Rich? I find this extremely hydrating and use it alongside Lancome Genefique Yeux. Also, if you go to a medical shop you get something called “Wunder Eye.” Rs 500 or so. I love this, it defo reduces pigmentation! So one cream for moisture, one for puffiness and lines and one for circles. Gosh!
