A Disappointing “Wedding Night” by Sophie Kinsella

Don’t get any wrong ideas….I’m talking about Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella – the latest book by my favourite chic lit author.

Sophie is one of my favourite chick lit authors and I looooovvvvveeeed Twenties Girl the most along with the Shopaholic series. And of course, Remember Me and Can You Keep A Secret. Even I’ve Got Your Number was a good enough read though I didnt really enjoy the books written under her original name, Madeline Wickham. So it’s obvious that when her new book launched, I was. desperate to get my hands on it.

The book blurb seems very interesting, doesn’t it? But the plot and storyline is quite weak. The main character, Lottie, comes across as such an immature, juvenile person and the way she behaves after her breakup really annoyed me a lot. The other characters too, aren’t really well defined with various nuances to their personality. They seem more like caricatures. I don’t want to get into details here coz I’m just to irritated by all of them.

Of course, the book does have its good moments and the dry British humour does cause a chuckle to escape at times, but those moments are few and far between. The plot isn’t gripping either, you just feel like turning the pages and reading the story just to get it over with so that you can move on to another, more interesting book.
This is one Sophie Kinsella that really disappointed me. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. C’mon Sophie, we all know you’re capable of far better things than this. Yes, you must be really busy with the new addition to your family. We understand that….take your time, but when you write a book make it something we fall in love with. Please…..

  2. Recently, I read a book from this British Author which wasn’t gripping at all and I was just reading it for the sake of finishing it!
