Sheraton Macau Hotel: Review and Photo Journal

I sat down today to write a review of the hotel we stayed at in Jaisalmer and while going through the pictures, I realised that I hadn’t even reviewed the Macau and Hong Kong hotels where we holidayed last May! Like most Indians planing a trip to Macau, the first hotel that came to mind was the Venetian (thanks to IIFA awards) but a friend told us to go for either Galaxy or Sheraton because they were newer properties. Finally, we decided on staying at the Sheraton.

The Hotel

The Sheraton Macau is located in the very heart of Macau, right on the Cotail Strip. Next to it is the Conrad, opposite it is the Venetian. And as with all other hotels in Macau, the Sheraton too, is MASSIVE! It’s two towers, Sky and Earth, combined offer a total of 3896 guest rooms and suites. It also has three outdoor pools, a spa, fine dining restaurants, gaming casinos and shops, shops and more shops.

The entire hotel has a tropical theme so there’s a profussion of water features and plants that make the whole place look so much more beautiful. The boys were totally fascinated with the colour and form changing fountains and the three story waterfall that had the Sheraton logo and other “writing” on it with coloured lasers. I tried to take a picture of that but couldn’t take any good ones.

Considering the size of the hotel and the number of guest rooms, we had thought that checking in would take quite a while but thankfully, the efficient staff got us checked in and into our room in just 15 minutes!

Pools

Sheraton Macau swimming pool

The Sheraton Macau has three outdoor pools and the entire poolside area is fabulous. The kids were very eager to go swimming but the weather was cool and windy with a slight drizzle and the water in the pool was quite chilly. Obviously, I didn’t want them to fall ill right at the start of the trip. The trees, statues and cabanas all added to the charm of the poolside area. I’ll let the pics do the talking…

Rooms

We had booked the Sheraton Club room with a King bed. All the Club rooms are on a higher floor and give fantastic views of the Cotai strip. Whenever I check into a hotel room, the first thing I check is the bathroom. Hubby always makes fun of this obsession of mine but for some reason, the bathroom is very important to me :p

The Sheraton has specialty fine dining restaurants but all had very limited options for vegetarians. Also, by the end of the day, the kids were so exhausted, all the wanted was to be comfortable in the room and have dinner while watching cartoons. The Inroom Dining staff was very understanding and made absolutely yummy vegetarian food exactly as the kids wanted.
The hospitality at the Sheraton is at par with all other hotels in this category and they ensure that your stay is really pleasant. (though personally I feel that no hotel can match the Taj when it comes to hospitality. They really go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay. Shall review some Taj hotels soon.). All these hotels in Macau have a complimentary bus shuttle service to other hotels and casinos and the staff helps you out as to which bus you should take and from where.
We had a great stay at the Sheraton Macau but I just wish we had stayed for a couple more days so that we could have properly enjoyed the pool and spa. If you’re looking at a holiday in Macau and want to avoid hoards of Indian tour groups, I would definitely advise you to stay at either the Sheraton or the Galaxy (almost all Indian tourists, individual and in tour groups, stay at the Venetian so you feel like you’re still in India).

Rates

Rooms at the Sheraton Macau start at around HK$ 1400 but you can search online for good deals. The King Club room that we stayed in, was approximately HK$ 1700 inclusive of breakfast but both days, we woke up so late, that we missed breakfast!

Hope you liked this post 🙂
PS- All the pics in this post are MINE. I did watermark some of them but then felt that it was spoiling the pics so avoided doing that on the others.
