Lip Factory Feb 2014 Beauty Box – Contents and Review

I’m sure I am not alone when I say that I blame Renu, of mybeautyjunction.com for tempting me to subscribe to international beauty boxes. All those with me, raise your hands. But honestly, she has managed to find some really amazing ones and while I resisted the temptation for most, I did give in to two of them. The first one was the wonderful Glam Guru box that I got in Jan. Her Lip Factory boxes also were so lovely, that I finally gave in and ordered the Feb 2014 box (it is priced at $22 for USA and Puerto Rico, $26 for Canada and $32 for the rest of the world). Shipped on the 18th of feb from USA, this eagerly anticipated box reached me on the 4th of March…not bad. But did the contents live up to my expectations? Well, some did, some didn’t. Read on…..

Contents of my Feb 2014 Lip Factory beauty box

Here’s what I got in my Feb 2014 Lip Factory box:

All the products are FULL SIZE and according to the product card, the total value of the box comes to $68! Very good deal, don’t you think? Let me show you the products I got in my box:

TEEZ TRENDY COSMETICS EVE’S READY TO WEAR LIPSTICK

Teeez Trendy cosmetics Eve's Ready To Wear Lipstick

I had seen the Teeez Liner and eyeshadow in Renu’s Jan box and loved the kitschy packaging so I was really excited when Lip Factory sent a teaser saying that there would be more of Teeez in the Feb box. All Teeez cosmetics are cruelty-free. This lipstick is “Paraben-free, ultra-moisturising, long lasting and repairs damaged lips”! And the packaging is truly wow. I got the shade “Awesome Orchid” and I can’t wait to wear this lipstick coz it’s a beautiful colour.

TEEZ TRENDY COSMETICS DESERT METALS MASCARA

The number of unused mascaras in my stash keep increasing! I realise that this one was my mistake. I should have mentioned in my beauty profile that I rarely use mascara so wouldn’t like to receive one in my beauty box. Anyway, I wouldn’t have really minded getting a mascara with such chic packaging had it been black. But this one is brown!!! Why would I want to use a brown mascara? 🙁

STARLOOKS LOOSE PAN EYESHADOW

Starlooks is a cruelty-free beauty brand that I hadn’t heard of. The eyeshadow I got is named Khaki but is much lighter than actual khaki colour.

This colour would only be good as a highlighting shade and not as a lid shade for my skintone. Wish they’d sent me a darker, more versatile shade though.

LASPLASH CHUBBY TWIST

LASplash Chubby Twist in Fashionista Pink

This is my FOURTH LASplash product! Want to count? First, there was the beautiful black with blue shimmer liquid liner in my June Vellvette Bag (which my friend took away coz she loved it so much!), then there was the LASplash mascara in my July Vellvette Box (which is still sealed and unused because…you know, mascara!) followed by a lovely vermilion nail polish in my December Vellvette-reincarnated-as-Fabbag. Except for the mascara, which I haven’t used yet, I loved all three products from LASplash.

This fourth product, the Chubby Stick, looks quite fabulous. Besides the gorgeous colour, it is really long lasting. The swatch stayed on my hand all evening and had to be removed with the Clarins Total Cleansing Oil. The Chubby Twist, as the name suggests, is a twist-up lip crayon and hence doesn’t require sharpening. The only thing, however, is that the colours of the Teeez lipstick and the LASplash Chubby are very similar when swatched. Take a look….

As you can see, the colours are almost identical though the textures are different, with the Teeez lipstick being creamier and having a satin finish and the LASplash Chubby being matte. While individually, I love both the colours, it just irks me to have received almost identical colours in the same box! Surely they could have checked that…

BLUSH BRUSH

Lip Factory Blush Brush

Yay, I didn’t get false eyelashes! Yes, they look gorgeous and I have worn them when I had my portfolio done but a girl who doesn’t even wear mascara isn’t going to wear false lashes is she? I hadn’t mentioned no “false eyelashes please” in my beauty profile but I am so thankful to Lip Factory for sending me this soft, fluffy blush brush instead of falsies.

So, overall, it is a lovely, very good value for money box. My only gripes are with the colour selection…of the eyeshadow, the mascara and the matching-matching lipsticks. I haven’t subscribed to the March box as it is a Lips-Only box and I don’t need/want any more cosmetics for at least a couple of months. I keep saying that to hubby each month, but this time,I’m sticking to it. Perhaps I’ll sub to the April or the May box.

What are your thoughts on the contents of my Lip Factory box?

  3. Will review them soon 🙂

  4. You’re right…i didn’t give much thought to the pigments. But i guess that holds true for all long lasting lipsticks/stains.

  5. enjoyed your review but concerned about the pigments used in the lipsticks as they are so long lasting and need such intense cleansing.

Lol I’m loving being an enabler! Actually the point was that they were going to send out a radiant orchid lipstick box – which is the Pantone colour of 2014 – as they had said in their website in Dec/Jan, and that was this box. So everything for the lips was orchid – as per subscriber demand.
