Shiseido The Makeup Stick Foundation Spf 15 – A Foundation For The Girl On The Go

I always have some essentials lying in each handbag so that when I switch bags, I don’t have to remember to put everything in it. Some cash, hand sanitiser, hand cream, lipbalm, all these will be there in each and every handbag. I also end up keeping eye pencils, lipstick, gloss etc in them, which most of the times, I forget to dig out and they lie there till I realise I can’t find a particular shade and hunt everywhere. That’s exactly what’s happened with the Shiseido The Makeup Stick Foundation.

I know you can’t really make out the shade of the foundation in this picture, but I liked this pic a lot so had to use it. Anyway, last december, when the new Parcos store had opened in High Street Phoenix, I went for a little browse. I ended up buying this stick foundation because I really liked how the shade O60 was an exact match for my skintone. It also felt very smooth (though quite silicone-y, if you know what I mean) and the SA said that it’s great for combination to oily skin. I took it along with me to Lonavala, where we went for New Year’s Eve and after coming back, forgot to remove it from that handbag.

What Shiseido says:
A creamy stick foundation that glides on effortlessly providing medium coverage and a long-lasting, lustrous natural finish while offering exceptional skincare benefits. Provides UV ray protection with SPF 15. Conceals fine lines and imperfections.

The Shiseido Stick Foundation comes in a sleek, gunmetal gray, metal tube that bulges a bit from the center. The cap closes securely making this an extremely travel-friendly foundation. It is also great to carry in your handbag for touching up your makeup if you’re going out straight from work. The only disadvantage of the metal tube is that gets very badly scratched. Especially if it’s dumped in a bag with loads of other stuff.

I really like the creamy texture of this foundation and the way it glides on the face. It is also very easy to blend out with your fingers and you really don’t need a brush for this. Shiseido is right when they say that it gives a “lustrous” natural finish because it does give a finish that has a little sheen to it. Like natural skin does. Not matte, not even dewy, but a natural-looking sheen.
I wouldn’t say that it gives a medium coverage though. It’s more like light coverage buildable to medium. Despite being creamy, it doesnt feel heavy or look cakey when layered though. This foundation also helps with oil-control for around 3 hours after which my nose and forehead do get shiny. It isn’t a very long-lasting foundation and tends to fade away and require touch up after around 4-5 hours.
So, while it’s a handy, portable foundation, it isn’t something I would recommend if you have a lot of marks to cover or if you want medium to full coverage. I would call it the stick version of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (reviewed here). Buy this only if you have combination to oily skin that needs minimal coverage.
Oh, forgot to mention the price.  It’s Rs. 2200 for 10gm.

  1. My favourite MAC foundation was the Studio Tech which gives medium to full coverage. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is lovely if you want light coverage. I also love Lancome Teint Miracle which gives light coverage, but an amazing glow.

  2. It is very convenient, but I would have prefered it to have a little more coverage.

  3. i have never tried any high end foundations…this seems pretty interesting..

  4. sounds like a nice product just that stick foundations worry me more cuz we need to apply using fingers or directly which am not really comfortable with. Have you used MAC foundation as well? Which one you like between Chanel and MAC, name aside which blends well ?

  5. I know the feeling of forgetting lipsticks in bags n den fretting abt losing those only to find them later in a handbag 😉 I like stick foundations..loved Bobbi brown stick foundation fr years…bt m surprised to hear abt its less coverage as most stick foundations r pretty heavy duty…I think its heavy for price vs results??
