Sleek iDivine Storm Palette – Review and Swatches

When I saw Ankita’s (Corallista) recent Instagram pics of three new eyeshadow palettes from Sleek, I remembered that I too had one Sleek palette that I had won in a giveaway. The palette had got damaged in transit with one of the really dark shades breaking and the shadow dust covering all the other shades, including the light ones. So, I just put it away and forgot all about it. Till day before yesterday when I saw those palettes on Instagram.
I finally dug out the palette and upended it over the bin so that all the broken pieces of shadow could fall out. Then I cleaned it as best as I could and voilà, here’s the Sleek iDivine Storm Palette.

Packaging

Sleek’s eyeshadow palettes come in a sleek (pun intended) matte black plastic case which appears quite sturdy (though it didn’t prevent some of the shadows from breaking).. It is also lightweight and compact and hence, perfect for travelling. It also has a good-sized mirror making it ideal for use on the go.

Shades

“Sleek’s MakeUP’s legendary iDivine Palettes are 12 shades of super-pigmented, long lasting, mineral based eyeshadows, designed to suit all. Each iDivine contains pearlescent shades, which contain mica particles which highlight and illuminate giving an overall radiant effect.

Storm contains shimmery neutral pinks and beiges perfect for day looks and gorgeous shades of dark blue, green and copper for elegant evening looks. This palette is perfect to take your look from natural to bold.”

The selection of shades in the Storm palette are indeed beautiful, ranging from lights to dark. There is a good mix of mattes and shimmers too for creating loads of various looks. Unfortunately, the shades in this palette have neither names, nor numbers so all I can do is show you pictures and describe them.

Swatches

And here are the swatches of all the eyeshadows to show you how intensely pigmented they are. Some of the darker shades, like the prussian blue and the blackened-green do have a bit of fallout but the rest don’t have much. The texture is really nice and soft, they go on smoothly and are easy to blend.

The first shade, the champagne gold, is a beautiful colour that would look great on all Indian skintones. It would be perfect for weddings and festivals where gold is the preferred colour and would go with almost all other jewel tones.
The silvery peach would be a great as a highlighter and for the inner corner of the eyes.
The neutral taupe, which is a matte, blends right into my skin and is barely visible in the swatch. I doubt I’m ever going to use that shade.

As you can see, these shades are incredibly pigmented and you really need to use them with a light hand. I haven’t really been able to capture the shimmer effect of these in the pictures but trust me, they are prettier in person than in the pics.

I think these three are the prettiest shades in the palette. The neutral gold can be paired with any colour at all. The rose gold is such a beautiful shade, I wonder why I haven’t tried it as yet. And the reddish-copper shade would be pair beautifully with the rose gold. Ok, I shall do an eye look with these shades soon…

That prussian blue is absolutely beautiful! Will use it in a smoky eye look soon. And as for the matte brown, I have a feeling I’ll use it for contouring rather than as an eyeshadow. The greyish-black is quite a dark black when swatched and can be used as an eyeliner too.
I think I’m a fool for letting such a pretty palette lie unused for so much time. The broken shadow had made everything so messy that I didn’t even feel like swatching it. It’s good that I cleaned it up because the colours are perfect for creating various party/weddingy/smoky looks. And with the festival and wedding season round the corner, this is a good time to play with it.
Which colours did you like the most? Have you used any Sleek eyeshadows before? Which is your favourite Sleek palette?
