The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Doll – Review, Swatch, FOTD.

“Dollie has a little doll, little doll, little doll,
Dollie has a little doll,
That gives her cheeks a glow.
And everywhere that Dollie goes, Dollie goes, Dollie goes,
And everywhere that Dollie goes,
The doll is sure to go.”
Sorry, I couldn’t help that little kiddie rhyme but hey, that’s what The Body Shop’s Lip and Cheek Doll is gonna do to you…..

Just in time for Christmas, The Body Shop released a new version of it’s Lip and Cheek Tint in a kawaii-cute, Geisha doll packaging. Talk about multi-tasking, besides being a makeup item, it will also look adorable as an ornament on the Christmas Tree and would make a perfect Stocking Stuffer gift….

About the Lip & Cheek Doll

This season, our iconic Lip and Cheek Stain comes in a new red shade sprinkled with golden glitter and the cutest special edition packaging. This dual purpose liquid stain gives a natural looking, rosy glow to lips and cheeks.

Packaging

How ADORABLE is this??? I just loved the little doll-face with its flushed cheeks, perfect winged liner and red lips. And don’t miss the hair tied up in a high bun. That “bun” is the cap which houses a thin, doe-foot applicator.

Colour and Texture

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Doll is a beautiful warm red lip and cheek tint with minute gold shimmer. It has a very thin texture and goes on quite translucent making it perfect for layering and to achieve different looks, from sheer to bold. The glitter, while showing up very obviously on the wand and when you swatch it, barely shows up once it is blended.

I had to apply several layers of the tint on my wrist for it to show up so opaque and the glitter to be so noticeable. It stains and starts setting almost immediately so you’ve got to be quick in blending it.

Once blended, the glitter is barely visible. And what a pretty “rosy” colour, isn’t it? As you can see, the left side of the swatch looks slightly darker than the right. That’s because the stain had already started setting in the time I took to swatch and take pictures of the swatch. To get an even flush, you have to be quick in blending it.

FOTD

And this is how it looks on me.

The problem with having pigmented lips is that stains such as this don’t look nice when applied in a single layer. That just makes the lips look dark, and not in a nice way. For this look, I have worn 3 layers of the tint but since it is so thin and lightweight, there is no heavy/sticky feel to it. And this is LONGLASTING!!! It refuses to budge through coffee and meals and hence is perfect for the festive season. It will last through a session under the mistletoe as well *wink, wink*.
On the cheeks, I love the flushed rosy glow it gives. However, I have issues when it comes to blending it. It disturbs the foundation / concealer underneath it and makes my acne marks visible. Perhaps I am not blending it right or there is some technique to blending it that I need to learn….Hmm….
This is a “Christmas” look that I have done using the Lip and Cheek Doll. More pictures and makeup breakdown shall follow in another post.
