Packaging and Felt Tip

The Bourjois Liner Feutre looks like a sleek pen with a cap that clicks shut. Open the “pen” and you see a long felt tip, longer and slightly thicker than the average felt-tip pen that we used as kids. The term “Feutre” is French for felt and hence the name of this liner.  The felt  is tapered and has a fine tip to help get a fine, thin line. However, with use, I have noticed some “feathering” at the tip making it slightly thicker. It isn’t much at the moment, but I’m sure the felt fibers will get loose and feather more as I keep using it.

Because of this pen-like packaging, the Bourjois Liner Feutre is a very convenient liner to have in the handbag. Very travel-friendly, the felt tip also makes it very easy to create the perfect winged cat-eyes. Personally, I feel felt liners make application faster as compared to liquid and gel liners.

While I like the concept of a pen liner, I find that, as with felt pens, the tip here too tends to dry out if open for some time. So while applying the liner, I find I have to keep shutting the pen, giving it a shake to get the liner flow into the tip, and then apply it again. A bit time-consuming when the main purpose of this pen is to make application faster. I would have prefered a felt tip applicator that you dip into the liner to apply as with the Lancome Artliner (which is almost over and I have yet to review) since the soaked tip in that doesn’t dry out as fast. To prevent the tip from drying out, I keep it stored upside down so that when I want to use it, the liner flows smoothly.

 Colour, Longevity and Swatch

Bourjois calls this colour Ultra Black and I do agree with the name. It is a jet black colour  that looks glossy when wet but dries to a matte finish unlike the Maybelline Hyper Glossy (shall review soon) that looks glossy even when dry. And once the Bourjois Liner Feutre dries, it does not budge!!! Keep it away from water and tears though because this isn’t a waterproof liner and you’ll have rivulets of black flowing down your cheeks. Other than that, it truly lasts all day and well into the night as well. I have applied it at 10 in the morning and it lasted me the whole day, through school meeting, football class and a girls’ night out and was intact when I finally removed it at 2am! That’s really good performance I feel and had I not cleansed it, it would have perhaps been there till 10 the next day!

Price

The Bourjois Liner Feutre is priced at ₹910 for 0.8ml which is a bit expensive for a drugstore brand but then that is Bourjois’ positioning, the higher end of drugstore.

My views

A really convenient, travel-friendly liner that makes application easy, the Bourjois Liner Feutre is a must have especially if you struggle with liquid liner. I just wish it were waterproof because that would make it totally perfect.
