Spring 2015 Makeup – Green Lids, Pink Lips

Lancome Inspired spring 2015 makeup

It has been a really, really long time since I did a makeup look. Ever since the Lancome Spring 2015 campaign was launched, with mint eyes and raspberry lips, I was very tempted to move out of my comfort zone and try a similar look. I didn’t want to ape the look exactly, but I wanted to try and adapt it to suit the Indian skintone.

I could have used the Maybelline Colossal Kajal in Turquoise since it looks more of a teal on me than turquoise, but then I remembered the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palettes and decided to use the light green shade from that. Since it is spring makeup, I wanted to use a brighter, glossier lipstick than the matte one the model is wearing (or perhaps I just can’t get over my obsession with Bobbi Brown Hot Raspberry which is my most frequently worn colour these days). And here’s my spring 2015 makeup look….

The green is not very noticeable which is just how I wanted. Which is why I didn’t apply the green shadow to the lower lash line. I don’t think I can carry off a mint green winged look like Alma Jodorowsky can in the pictures. For the face, no contouring, no blush. I just wore the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Bronze (swirled all the colours together) to give a little colour and shimmer to the cheeks.

Though the green is quite a chalky, bright green in the palette, I think it looks quite subtle and wearable once it’s on the eyes. And it goes well with our skintone too. Thankfully, it didn’t look as weird as I thought it might and I’m glad I decided to try it.

And if you know me, you must have guessed that I did my makeup using very few products 😉

What do you think of this look? Would you try out mint green shadow? Do you think I should experiment a bit more and try out a mint green winged look? Do let me know in the comments.
