Current Nighttime Skincare Routine – Anti-Aging And Hydrating

Nighttime skincare routine

The bright sunshine along with the chilly winds in Spain during my holiday wrecked havoc on my skin and once I got back home, I amped up my night time skincare routine with hydrating and anti-aging products. My routine is quite dynamic, however, as I keep trying out products or switching them for other similar ones on some days but these products are the ones that I have been using regularly. Here’s my current nighttime skincare routine…

Cleanse

My nighttime skincare routine begins with cleansing, of course. If I’m wearing makeup, then I cleanse with the Klairs Cleansing Oil (reviewed here) and then follow with the Vichy Normaderm Cleansing Gel on the Mirenesse Pebblesonic. This thoroughly cleanses as well as gently exfoliates my skin. The Pebblesonic also gives a mini massage to the face.

Serum

OST C21.5 Serum review

As mentioned earlier, when I combined the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid toner with the OST C21.5 serum, my skin reacted adversely and so I had to hold off from using both those products for a while. Perhaps this Vitamin C serum would be fine over a normal toner but I don’t wish to take any chances so I apply it directly after cleansing (on dry skin of course).  Since my skin needs more hydration as well as an anti-aging product, I apply another serum on top of this; the Vichy LiftActiv Serum 10.

Moisturise

Nighttime Skincare Routine - Bee venom moisturiser

Most nights, I use the Migabee Bee Venom and Honey Cream over the two serums. It has a light texture and yet is quite moisturising without being greasy/oily and I love the way it just sinks into the skin. Besides, bee venom has great anti-aging properties and has even been called nature’s botox! (Read my detailed post here). This is a Korean product that I got in one of my Memeboxes which really got me hooked onto Korean multi-layered skincare.

Since I layer my skincare, I don’t need to apply too much of each product. Think of it as your winter wear – it is better to have thin soft layers rather than a couple of bulky sweaters, right?

Sleeping Mask

Yet another innovative product from Korea, the sleeping mask, as the name suggests, is a face mask that works on the skin while you sleep. These are usually richer, and stickier than night creams. This Pure Supplement Lemon Blueberry Overnight Mask is enriched with various organic superfood ingredients such as lemon water, blueberry and broccoli extracts. It has a lovely jiggly-wobbly jelly-like texture and smells good enough to eat. The reason why I am not doing a separate, detailed review on this mask is that I haven’t been able to find it online except on online whole-sellers that deal in bulk orders.

This overnight mask has a slightly sticky texture and I use this once or twice a week depending on my skin’s needs. The nights that I apply this mask, I don’t apply the Migabee moisturiser.

I have also been trying out The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Sleeping Mask and though I have used it just twice, I love it! It has a very different texture from the Pure Supplement one and a very pleasant fragrance too. I shall do a detailed review on that soon.

As you can see, my nighttime skincare routine is loaded with hydrating and anti-aging products. Though I have combination skin with an oily T-zone, my skin also needs moisture and hydration that all these products give me. The texture of my skin has really improved now though I’m still waiting for those two annoying pimple marks to fade. Thanks to the Vitamin C serum, my sunspots/freckles too appear lighter now.

    1. Thanks Sayantini.
The OST serum will work for oily skin as well since it has a watery texture. And remember, oily skin can also be dehydrated 🙂
