The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask – Pamper Your Skin While You Sleep

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask review

Blame the Memebox for introducing me, and getting me addicted, to sleeping masks. If you have read my post on face masks (if not, read it here) you would know that Sleeping Masks are usually thick cream/gel- based face masks that are designed to pamper and nourish your skin while it is rejuvenating itself as you sleep. In fact, they give a whole new meaning to the term “beauty sleep”!

I have been using sleeping masks regularly since quite a few months but they have been the Korean ones. When The Body Shop launched a sleeping mask, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to try it out. I started using The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask about 20 days ago and…do I like it as much as the Korean ones? Read on to know….

What’s The Packaging Like?

Had to click some of the pictures indoors since it started raining suddenly.

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask (what a mouthful that is!) comes in a heavy glass jar with a screw-on lid. As I mentioned in my review of the Vichy LiftActiv Supreme, jar packaging is a bit unhygienic since you have to dip your fingers into it. Thankfully, this one comes with a spatula to scoop out the required quantity of product.

Who Should Use It? When To Use It?

As the name, Drops Of Youth suggests, this is an anti-aging sleeping mask to deliver hydration and firm up skin to get back the youthful “bounce”. Since it is a sleeping mask, it has to be used at night, obviously, as the last step in your skincare. Depending on your skin’s requirements, you may use toner/serum etc after cleansing your skin and then apply this sleeping mask as your final layer. Or you may choose to just apply this by itself. I have used it by itself as well as layered over the OST C21.5 Vitamin C serum and either way, it works beautifully. Unlike certain other products that cause a stinging sensation when used over the Vitamin C serum, this mask doesn’t tingle/sting.

Though you should ideally use it at night, if your better half doesn’t like the sticky feeling face, then you can also use it when you nap in the afternoon (something that I don’t get to do). Most of the times, I cleanse my face after I make the kids sleep and apply this sleeping pack. So by the time I go to sleep, most of the mask has got absorbed and there’s just a light layer on my face. You could use it every night instead of a night cream or once/twice a week according to your skin’s needs.

The Body Shop has even got  skincare expert Dr. Terry to make  a video to demonstrate the right application technique for this mask….

The Good?

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask review

So far, I have tried out four sleeping masks, three of which have been Korean. The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Sleeping Mask is the only non-Korean one…and it is the best so far! The texture is like nothing I have used before. At first, when I saw the semi-solid gel-creme jiggling in the jar, I thought it would be similar to the Pure Supplement Lemon and Blue Berry mask that I was using. It was when I scooped up some product in the spatula that I realised how different it was. This gel-creme starts “melting” as you massage it over your skin and doesn’t get completely absorbed, forming a thin, slightly sticky shiny layer over the skin. It does get partially absorbed in a couple of hours but not totally. And remember the memory-shape part? Once you scoop out some of this jiggly, bouncy mask, it settles back into it’s original shape within minutes! Seriously, I felt like a child playing with a new toy the way I played with this mask, scooping it up, letting it fall back and creating ripples in the jar only to see them settle and smoothen out!

Besides the wonderful and unique texture and the melting feel on the skin, this mask also has a very pleasant floral fragrance which is mild and doesn’t linger long. Of course the best part is when you see and feel your skin the next morning after rinsing the remnants of the mask with water. Even after 5 hours (or less) of sleep, my skin looks and feels fresh, plump and smooth! Basically, this mask makes your skin look like it’s got it’s 8 hours of “beauty sleep” even when it hasn’t.

The Not So Good?

Umm…I like it so much I can’t think of any negatives. Well, this does have silicone, alcohol, phenoxyethanol and parabens but it is gentle enough for sensitive skin. That the husbands might not like your face to be covered in a sleeping mask is a different issue.

Price

₹2,295 for a whopping 90ml certainly makes this is fantastic value for money buy. And you really need a very small quantity of product per application. Even if you use it daily, this jar will last you ages! And seeing the texture, you would be able to scoop out every last bit of it.

To Sum It Up

The best sleeping mask I have tried till date, I love the unique texture, the way it melts onto my skin, it’s fragrance and, most of all, the way my skin looks and feels the next day. Unlike other sleeping masks that aren’t easily available and have to be ordered online, this one is easily available at all The Body Shop stores and their website as well! If you have been longing to try out the Korean trend of a sleeping mask, you don’t need to search different websites and deal with the customs department, you can simply walk into the store and buy it. Brilliant product! The Body Shop, take a bow.
