Skin18.com Website Review- Your Destination For Korean Skincare

Skin18.com website review

Rejoice all you fans of K-beauty (Korean beauty products for those of you who didn’t know) coz there is a new website stocking some lovely Korean products, especially sheet masks! I’m talking about Skin18.com, a Hong Kong based website started by two sisters who have been taught from childhood that having good skin is far more important than applying makeup, and who after years of using European and American skincare products, switched to Korean ones because they found them to be more effective. Read on to know more about the brands available on this site and the sheet masks I got. Oh, and also, whether I had to pay customs duty or not….

About Skin18.com

“Skin18 believes in skincare instead of makeup. Skincare products feed natural ingredients and nutrition to your skin while makeup is considered as a coverage. A lady may not have perfect features but still look charming with beautiful skin. The founder of Skin18 was concerned about her skin the most and our mission here is to bring you products that will make your skin look forever 18. It is best to start your skincare as early as possible but it is also never too late, just like exercising for a healthy body.”

Sheet masks from Skin18.com

From cleansers and toner to serums, ampoules and moisturisers to sleeping masks and BB creams (the only “makeup” products on this site are BB and CC creams), this site has all that one would need for an intensive Korean skincare regime. And of course, sheet masks! No K-beauty regime is complete without sheet masks and Skin18 gives you several options to choose from. Skin18 sent me some sheet masks to try out:

  • Mirium Fresh Fruit Honey Real Natural Mask Pack
  • Mirium Collagen Real Natural Mask Pack
  • Foodaholic Hydrogel Mask Gold Energy
  • Foodaholic Hydrogel Mask Collagen Lift Up
  • [i:bo] All-in-One 3 Step Repair Solution
  • Royal Skin The Animalian Mask – Tiger
  • Royal Skin The Animalian Mask – Panda
  • Skin Guardian Soothing 3Step Total Facial Mask
  • Medicos – V Gold Black Bright Moisture Essential Mask

I have only tried the Foodaholic Gold Hydrogel mask till date and I loved it. Elder son came back from school and asked me if I had just woken up from sleep “because you look so fresh and bright mama.” Effects of the mask you see; they made a sleep deprived me look fresh and “just-woken up” bright. There are two 3-step masks which I am really keen to try out since they come with a cleanser, ampoule / cream and mask. Both sets of Foodaholic masks are hydrogel masks which I prefer to the cellulose sheet masks since it feels like applying a sheet of jelly onto the face. Unfortunately, on most of the masks, the instructions, ingredients etc is all written in Korean but thankfully, the website does give all the information in English.

But the most interesting are these samples….

These serum samples from Ben & Sera come in this cute little syringe. Unfortunately, when trying to check the texture of the Whitening serum, I pressed a bit too hard and emptied nearly the entire syringe. What a waste 🙁  These serums are highly concentrated, however, and just a drop is needed for the entire face! The 30 days anti-aging one is for girls in their 30s while the Taeng-Taeng one is for those in their 40s.

One thing that I really liked about Skin18.com is that you can order mask samples and these serum samples by just paying for the shipping! Isn’t that wonderful? Of course, there is a limit to the number of free samples that one person can order.

Besides the well-known Etude House, Banila Co and Innisfree, Skin18 also has products from other Korean brands such as Griniff, Hoika Holika, Nature Republic, Tony Moly and others.

My package was shipped on the 1st of July from Hong Kong and I received it on the 9th. Pretty quick isn’t it? And the best part? The value of the package was mentioned as just $5 (for all these masks!) and so I didn’t have to pay any customs duty!!! If you have been following my blog, you would know that the Mumbai Customs Department has some special affection for me and my parcels and loves to make me run around for the NOC for them and also makes me pay huge duties. Thankfully, I didn’t have to this time 🙂

So, whether you want to embark on a Korean skincare routine or you’re already a fan of K-beauty, do check out Skin18.com. You could also follow them on their social media platforms:

Is any custom duty required for ordering free samples, apart from shipping charges?

    1. Priyanka, that depends on the Customs Department of your city. However, if you’re ordering just the samples, then the value of the package won’t be much anyway so I don’t think you need to worry about the customs.

  8. wow!! cant wait to try this website. What about shipping charges?

    1. Free standard shipping on orders above $40. But if you want to order only a sample set, then you pay only $3 which is for shipping.
