Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Hair Oil Review

Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Hair Oil Review

The new fad in haircare these days is to condition before shampooing. The conditioners too, are “enriched” with various oils such as olive, macadamia or even argan. To be honest, this isn’t something “new” anyway….we Indians have been doing it since thousands of years. And that pre-shampoo conditioner ritual is called an “Oil massage”! Surprised? Don’t be. Oiling the hair prior to washing it DOES help improve the hair texture and I have always been a proponent of oil massages (except during my rebellious teens). Most of the times, though I do need to use a conditioner after shampooing off the oil. Till the Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Hair Oil entered my life. Read on to know what I mean…..

While I’m not sure that the root floating in the bottle of oil actually does anything, it sure looks quite exotic.

Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Hair Oil Review

The Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Hair Oil has got to be my absolute favourite hair oil till date. And let me tell you, I have tried loads including some that I concocted at home. And not just me, my sons too like this oil mainly because of it’s fragrance. We all know how difficult it is to get boys to sit still while you oil their hair….they simply run away at the name of oil because they don’t like the sticky texture or the smell. The Spa Ceylon oil smells so nice (and it isn’t that sickly sweet synthetic fragrance either that certain other “fragranced” oils have) that the boys actually enjoy sitting and getting their hair oiled!

With a citrusy-floral-smells-like-a-spa fragrance, this oil actually smells like a spa and helps in making you feel calm and relaxed. It is difficult to describe the fragrance but all I can say is that it has a very “aromatherapy-like” smell.

Ingrdients

Virgin Coconut oil, Soya bean oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Parfum, Natural Vitamin E from Soya, Sesame Oil, Orange Peel Oil, Neroli flower oil, Bergamot fruit oil, Jasmine flower and leaf extract, Aloe Vera leaf extract, Gotukola leaf extract, Mukunuwenna leaf extract, Indian Gooseberry fruit extract, Indian Henna extract, Shikakai fruit extract.

Several of the oils available these days feature 70-80% mineral oil and silicone. I was very impressed with the ingredients of the Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine oil because they are all good for the hair. Ideally, I would love to oil my hair at least twice a week but most days, I’m so exhausted by night that all I want to do is curl up in bed and read on my kindle sleep. However, I do try to oil my hair at least once a week, if not more. I leave on the oil all night and when I shampoo my hair the next day, I find that I DON’T NEED TO USE CONDITIONER!!! Seriously, I’m not joking. I do use a serum later on damp hair because my hair has a tendency to get very frizzy but I don’t need to use a conditioner because the oil has worked as a pre-shampoo deep conditioner.

After the shampoo and the anti-frizz serum, I let my hair air dry and the texture is definitely smoother than when I shampoo and condition and apply serum but without using this oil. My hair looks and feels healthier too! The oil is light in texture and doesn’t feel very sticky like a lot of other oils. I use a small quantity to massage the scalp and then a little bit on the lengths of the hair. Most of the times, I am able to get the oil out with a single shampoo but sometimes, if I have used a bit too much oil, then I do need two rounds of shampooing.

Priced at ₹1,100 for 250ml, the Spa Ceylon Neroli Jasmine Oil is certainly expensive. I have been using this oil since about 4 months and there’s still about 1/4th of the bottle left. Of course, I do admit I’m not too regular with my oiling but I do use it once a week for sure for me and the boys. I will surely re-purchase once this bottle is over because, like I mentioned earlier, this is the best hair oil I have used so far. And it smells amazing 🙂
