Oriflame Diamond Cellular Anti-Aging Cream and Night Restorative Treatment Review

“You can be gorgeous at 30, charming at 40 and irresistible for the rest of your life” – Coco Chanel.

Well, it is true. I have always believed that age is just a number. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want slow down the aging process. Or at least delay it’s signs. While I am very comfortable with the fine lines under my eyes, I do want to try and delay new ones coming up and hence, anti-aging products form an integral part of my skincare routine. It has been little over a month now that I have been using the Oriflame Diamond Cellular Anti-Aging Cream and Night Restorative Treatment so it’s time to share my experience with you.

“This exceptionally rich cream targets the visible signs of ageing to reveal skin that defies its age. Brightens complexion with genuine diamond powder. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with White Truffle extract. Helps lift and redefine facial contours with protein complex. It has Diamond Elixir and an Eternal Beauty Complex that work together to combat the visible signs of aging. The Diamond Elixir contains Diamond powder and White Truffle extracts while the Eternal Beauty Complex has Myrtle extracts, a protein complex and Flavonoids. “

The Oriflame Diamond Cellular Anti-Aging Cream is a thick, rich cream that is packaged in a transparent glass jar with plastic screw-on lid. The lid is really pretty since it is designed in a way that it imitates the facets on a diamond. I am not too fussed about the jar packaging – though a lot of girls might be because they find it unhygienic – but  I’m the only one using this and I make sure my fingers are clean before scooping out the product so the jar is fine with me.

The cream and the night treatment, both have quite a strong fragrance that lingers for quite a while. I am not too fond of the fragrance and would have prefered the cream to be fragrance-free. As mentioned, the cream has a rich texture with some sort of micro-shimmer dust in it. It doesn’t make the skin appear glittery or shimmery but it does make the skin appear brighter and more radiant. Up close, however, and under certain lights, you can make out the minute shimmery particules, especially after  a while once the cream has got absorbed into the skin. That’s when the “diamond dust” appears more visible on the skin.

While I never expect miracles from any anti-aging products, I do hope that they make my skin appear brighter, the pores smaller and the fine lines less pronounced. To my delight, the cream did all three. Within just a week of using these products, I got complements on how fresh and raadiant my skin was looking. After using these products for a month, my skin seems to have reached a plateau though.

The Oriflame Diamond Cellular Anti-Aging Cream isn’t meant for combination or oily skin however. It is  quite a rich cream and even though I use just a tiny quantity, it makes my skin oily and shiny and it also makes my pores appear more pronounced. The hot and humid summer just makes it worse. This would be the perfect anti-aging cream for the winters, when the skin is dry.

“High-performing night treatment with Cellular Sal Acid to help improve skin cell turnover, resulting in visibly younger skin in just 14 nights. Apply before sleep for the overnight treatment. This renaissance beauty treatment is enriched with Diamond Elixir and Cellular Sal Acid which helps reduce the appearence of past damage and visible signs of aging for renewed and radiant looking skin.”

I wonder why Oriflame has kept the rich cream for day wear and this lighter serum for night time use. According to me, it should have been the other way around since the Night Restorative Treatment has a lighter, texture than the cream and is absorbed faster without making the skin look shiny or greasy. It has the same fragrance as the cream as well as the “diamond dust”.

Despite it’s lighter texture, it is just as moisturising and hydrating as the cream. When I use this, I do wake up to skin that looks really fresh and bright (even on just 3-4 hours of sleep) and well hydrated. When the skin is nicely moisturised and hydrated, fine lines appear reduced. This serum / treatment can be used even by those with combination skin – though perhaps not oily skin.

You can see the ultra-fine particles in the serum and they do kind of “shimmer” when the light hits at certain angles.

My Views

The Oriflame Diamond Cellular Anti-Aging Cream and Night Restorative Treatment do live up to their claims of making skin appear brighter, more radiant and with less visible signs of aging. However, what I didn’t like are the shimmery particles – a.k.a. “Diamond Dust” that are apparent under the lights. Also, both these products also contain some nasty ingredients such as Urea and Parabens so if you have sensitive skin, it would be better to avoid these.

Of the Cream and the Night Treatment, I personally prefer the Night Treatment which is like a serum and has a lighter texture than the cream and hence better for my combination skin. Even with the rich texture, the Cream didn’t cause my skin to break out thankfully.  Both these are quite expensive as well and for this price, I would personally prefer products that don’t contain nasty chemical ingredients.
