Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick 401, 481 Review and Swatches

Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick Review and Swatches

It has been exactly 13 years since I last bought makeup from Chambor. Ther powder matte lipsticks used to be my favourite and they, along with the eyeshadow trios and blush duos formed a sizeable chunk of my wedding makeup trousseau. I don’t know why I stopped buying Chambor after that – perhaps it was just ennui with the lack of innovative new launches from the brand. With the blogosphere going gaga over the new Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipsticks, I decided to check them out to see what the hype was all about. When I went shopping for the kids over the weekend, I bought two shades of these new liquid lipsticks – 401 and 481. Read on to know my views on these much-raved about lipsticks…..

About the Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick

” A long-lasting, transfer proof liquid lipstick with a smooth sensorial feel and a creamy matte finish. It’s extreme coverage provides a intense colour in just one stroke.”

Readers of my blog would know that I prefer creamy, satin finish lipsticks to matte ones. When I swatched these lipsticks, they did seem to have  a creamy matte finish. Little did I know that they settle down to a totally matte finish that sucks all moisture out of my lips. But we’ll talk of that later. First, the packaging…

The Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick come in a flattened, oval tube with a screw-on cap that houses the applicator which isn’t really doe-foot, rather just an elongated, flat applicator. The packaging is simple, elegant and fuss-free. The cap screws on securely and is sized well enough to give a decent grip while applying the lipstick.

These lipsticks have an incredible pigmentation and give opaque coverage with just one swipe of the applicator. They do feel smooth and creamy while applying but settle down to a dry, powder matte finish. In fact, the creamy texture reminds me a bit of the Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge that I love but unlike the Mirenesse lippies that are super comfortable to wear, these feel very drying. Once the Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick sets and becomes powder matte, it doesn’t budge for about the entire day! However, it is not completely transfer proof and does transfer a bit onto glasses, forks and spoons. The lipstick also fades from the center when you eat – light snacks like chips and popcorn don’t really bother the lipstick but nachos, french fries, pizza…you get the idea…those kind of greasy foods do cause the lipstick to fade. These lipsticks also have the same mild chocolate fragrance that I remember the Chambor Powder Matte lipsticks had as well.

What I really dislike about the Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick is that they are extremely, extremely drying on my lips. I actually feel like it is sucking out all the moisture from my lips! And this despite wearing a lip balm underneath. Not only that, it settles into and emphasises all the lines of the lips which is my pet peeve.

The range of shades available in this range is quite good and is difficult to choose because they look so attractive. I was very certain that I wanted only light / nude shades so I chose 401 – a very pretty dusty rose and 481 – a nude MLBB shade.

Shade 401 is a beautiful, beautifully wearable muted, dusty rose shade perfect for daily / formal wear. It would suit fair to medium skintones but might wash out those beyond NC42. This shade has a very faint shimmer that isn’t visible on the lips. I only noticed it when  I saw the hand swatch under bright sunlight.

Shade 481 is a nude, MLBB shade that is just a bit lighter than the Mirenesse Mattfinity in Milan. From the pictures of the Kylie Lip Kits that I have seen, this one also seems to be an almost dupe of Dolce K. This shade wouls be perfect on fair skintones but would wash out most medium skintones as well. When I bought this, I didn’t remember the Mirenesse one or I would have chosen a different shade. It was only when I reached home that I realised why this shade seemed so familiar.

By the way, I swatched these lipsticks on my hand at around 11am and right now, as I write this post 12 hours later, the swatches on the hand are still intact!!!

The one thing I noticed about the Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick is that they tend to darken – both in the hand swatch as well as on the lips. I haven’t read anyone else mentioning this in their reviews so perhaps this problem is peculiar only to me? But yes, they both turn about a shade darker after an hour or so on my lips. I wonder why this happens and if anybody else has experienced this.

The Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick is priced at ₹845 which is quite reasonable given the pigmentation and longevity. I just wish it didn’t feel so excessively drying.

Have you tried the Chambor Extreme Wear Transferproof Liquid Lipstick? Which one is your favourite shade? Do let me know in the comments.

  1. Even the lipstick tends to darken on my lips as well after an hour or so.

  2. YSL I think is has the best liquid lipsticks which give a matte finish without feeling dry at all and also retains the shine of its look. Love them!
    Haven’t tried Chambor.

    1. I love YSL lipsticks. Unfortunately they aren’t available in India anymore so Duty Free is the only option left 🙁

  3. Wow… I totally adore shade #401 <3 🙂

I have a burgundy from this range and love it! Find it less drying than ColourPop 😀

    1. So that means that I really need to stay away from Colorpop!

  5. Its nice that an Indian brand came out with these matte lipsticks too but I agree they need to make the texture a bit less drying. Mine is so flakey and looks a bit weird on the lips. Oh btw I see Google ads are working for you now 🙂 Yay congratulations. Any tips on getting the approval?

  6. I’ve never heard of chambor before are they available in the uk? Shame that it transferred !

    1. Hey Kathy, I don’t think this brand is available in UK.
