Sensuous Sarees Look Better With Zivame Saree Shapeware

Zivame Saree Shapewear

Ever noticed how sensuously our national garment caresses the curves of Bollywood actresses? And have you ever tried getting the same kind of effect with your own Saree? Chances are that you wouldn’t get the same sleek, slender, curvy effect. And that is because of the kind of petticoat that women usually wear under the sari – flared and shapeless.

Zivame Saree Shapewear

At the time of my marriage, my mom in law was shocked when I said I would be getting my petticoats stitched because for her, sari petticoats were all about the one-size-fits-all (almost) ones. I, however, wanted the slender, curvy look and so got all of mine stitched in the mermaid cut. This however, had it’s drawbacks as I found out while trying to sit crosslegged for the puja. Because of the fitted shape of the petticoat, it was restrictive when it came to sitting down! Extremely uncomfortable indeed and I found myself wishing for an alternative that would give me the best of both – shape as well as comfort.

And let’s not forget the highly uncomfortable drawstring that all petticoats have! The drawstring needs to be tied quite tight so as to hold the weight of the saree and that causes chaffing of the skin at the waist as well as itchiness and, in the long run for those wearing a tight petticoat everyday, a permanent mark around the waist! I did try and experiment with petticoats as well as leggings with elastic waists / zippered waists but none were capable of holding the weight of the saree pleats that have to be tucked in. I’m sure I’m not the only one who was frustrated at these drawbacks of the traditional petticoat.

Seems like the folks at Zivame heard the pleas telepathically since they have now launched the Zivame Saree Shapewear that marries the traditional saree petticoat with the benefits of shapewear!

Zivame Saree Shapewear

The Zivame Saree Shapewear would be “the perfect foundation to attain the sculpted silhouette that every woman desires. It has a smoothing waistband that covers the sides and gives the perfect grip to hold the weight of any kind of saree. It is designed to compress the stomach and thigh regions for a slimming effect. The shapewear also comes with side slits for comfort and ease of movement. This revolutionary product gives one the perfect mermaid shape under all types of sarees. The Zivame Saree Shapewear is not restricted only to sarees but can also be worn under gowns, maxis and long skirts as well.”

The Zivame Saree Shapewear is priced at ₹1495 and is available in 4 shades (Black, white, nude and red) and 4 sizes (S, M, L, XL) and is available on their website here.

What I am most excited about is that there are no irritating, chaffing drawstrings. And it will give me the sensuous, curvy shape I want with a saree.

I am really excited to try out the Zivame Saree Shapewear this festive season. I just hope that Zivame adds more colours to this range since with pastel sarees in lightweight fabrics, the colour of the petticoat shows through and hence needs to be a good match. For the Bandhani that I have bought for this Diwali, though, I am certainly getting the Zivame Saree Shapewear to look all slim and slender.

  1. Hey, can I wear this for my own wedding, as I’ll have to sit for really long, that’s my concern and totally confused 😑

    1. I don’t think it would be a good idea to wear it for so many hours. It compresses the belly so you might feel uncomfortable after wearing it for too long.

  2. hello everyone ,
Can anyone who is using this saree shape wear, please tell me how comfortable it is when we are sitting down for pooja (long hours) ?

    1. It is very uncomfortable if you’re sitting down. Can’t be worn if you’re sitting cross legged for a Puja. I tried it which is how I know.

      1. Thanks for that input Dollie! You addressed my concerns very well having tried the saree shapewear yourself. I think besides having an elastic band at the waist, the stretchable petticoat should also have a drawstring to tighten it further or in case the elasticity is lost over time and few washes.

  3. I m also excited to get it soon..but would it be able to hold weight of my saree? Pls reply if anyone of you have bought it

    1. Hey Kanchan, it held the weight of my sari but each time I bent down, the waist part would roll and bundle up and some of the pleats would come out. Guess it also depends on each person’s body and since my tummy is my problem area, I had this issue.

  4. our prayers are answered 🙂 I’m getting this asap 🙂
