MAC Vibe Tribe Review, Swatches and FOTD

MAC Vibe Tribe Review

MAC is one makeup brand that consistently comes out with limited editions,  most of them with really pretty packaging. One of their recent collections is the MAC Vibe Tribe Collection – a controversial collection “inspired” by desert music festivals. With gorgeous wearable shades, beautiful textures and adorable packaging, this is one collection that makes a great addition to a makeup lover’s dresser. I have three products from this collection that I’m going to review today – the eyeshadow quad, the lipstick and the blush. Read on to know more…

About the MAC Vibe Tribe Collection

MAC Vibe Tribe review

“Sound and self-expression converge in the vast canvas of the desert. Lose control and imagine yourself in lips painted reckless shades of red and coral, or a flash of gold. Let your eyes escape reality in teal, cobalt, mandarin and charcoal, as free-spirited nails glisten in succulent tangerine and the perfect, buttery nude. Abandon control in online-exclusives Rio Grande Romance and Painted Canyon. Feel the vibe.”

The MAC Vibe Tribe collection has a soft peach packaging with gorgeous Aztec print in brown, teal and coral. The packaging is really pretty and sets the collection apart from all other makeup you would have.

Eye Shadow X 4: Call Of The Canyon / Vibe Tribe (₹3700)

MAC Vibe Tribe review
MAC Vibe Tribe Call Of The Canyon (clockwise) : Call Of The Canyon, Fool’s Gold, Summer Sun, Thunderbolt.

A quad with four beautiful, wearable shades that have a creamy, buttery texture and soft shimmer. I love eyeshadows with shimmer in them and the shades here are absolutely lovely! They glide like silk on the eyes, don’t look or feel chalky and don’t have any fall out either.

Call Of The Canyon – the lightest shade in the palette – is also the one with the creamiest texture and most pigmentation. This shade has been described on the MAC website as frosty off-white, looks peachy-silver in the palette and comes off as silver on my NC-40 skintone. It is buttery smooth, very pigmented, applies smoothly without any fallout.

Fool’s Gold has been described as a dirty olive gold but on my skin it looks like the perfect gold – not too bright yellow, not too dull, just perfect. It is not as pigmented as Call of the Canyon and you need to pack it on a bit to get the full impact of the colour.

[Adsense-B]

Summer Sun, a frosty peach orange, looks like a dusty peach with a bit of shimmer on my lids. It makes a great neutral shade for daily wear since the shimmer isn’t too blingy.

Thunderbolt, my favourite shade from the quad but unfortunately the least pigmented one, is a dark charcoal with gold pearl. It is a beautiful shade made even more unique and attractive thanks to the gold pearl in it but applies quite sheer. These shadows can be used wet and dry but I haven’t tried using them wet as yet. Perhaps that would help enhance the shade.

Powder Blush Vibe Tribe in Adobe Brick (₹2000)

MAC Vibe Tribe review

Described as a Burnt Red with a Satin finish, Adobe Brick powder blush is incredibly pigmented. You do need to use this very carefully, especially since it is a shade that packs such a punch. It is a warm red that is a bit difficult to blend so you need to tap off the excess from the brush before applying or you’ll find a clown staring back at you from the mirror.

Lipstick Vibe Tribe in Painted Sunset (₹1600)

MAC Vibe Tribe review

MAC Vibe Tribe Painted Sunset is decribed as a bright orange red and is absolutely true to it’s description. The colour, in fact, is almost identical to So Chaud, the only difference being the finish – Painted Sunset is Amplified while So Chaud is Matte.

MAC Vibe Tribe review

While the MAC Vibe Tribe Collection has been under some controversy in the USA, we in India love our tribal and cultural heritage and unabashedly take inspiration from our numerous tribes for fashion, art, architecture and other facets of life. Borrowing inspiration from the tribes of Gujarat and Rajasthan, I created a makeup look using these MAC Vibe Tribe products….

  1. Love the lipstick. Such a vibrant shade.

  2. So pretty! Loving the blush. The quad too is way too expensive for my taste. Mac’s packaging is definitely goals though.
