Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal Review

Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal review

A jet-black kajal is a beauty necessity for almost all Indian girls. In fact, I think the kajal is the first makeup product an Indian girl uses – even before starting out with lipstick / lipgloss. The one kajal that has kept a constant presense in my makeup kit since a month and a half has been the new Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal. Faces is a brand that I have come to love because of the wonderful quality of the products it has as well as the affordable pricing. The Intense Gel Kajal, the latest offering from Faces, came with me when I went for a destination wedding (and helped me do super quick smoky eyes) and was the only eye product I used all throughout my week-long holiday last week. So here’s what I love about this kajal as well as the one thing that I dislike…..

About the Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal

Price ₹549. Available here.

“The Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal is formulated to deliver dramatic definition with one easy swipe and is easy to apply. It brightens theeye with a pure, seductive and vibrant line of colour, dark and intense. It has a one stroke application, gel finish and is super long wear. It has an attached smudger and comes with a sharpener too.”

True to it’s name, the Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal does have a gel finish. It is super, super soft and creamy and simply glides onto the eyes. There is no tugging of the skin. Just ones stroke gives an intensely jet black line and since it is so soft, smudging it with the smudger is easy too. In fact, this makes it perfect for creating smoky eyes or smudgy, kohl-rimmed eyes.

The Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal comes in a pencil form so you don’t need to mess around with brushes. It is quick and easy “Open-Swipe-Go” application. On one end of the pencil is the actual kajal while the other end has the smudger.  I purposely didn’t sharpen the pencil before clicking pictures because I have already sharpened it twice (proof of my daily usage) and didn’t want it to get any shorter. I wish the gel kajal was twist up rather than one needed sharpening because it causes so much product wastage. It would be great if Faces updated this and came up with a twist-up version of this kajal.

While it is soft and easy to smudge, the Faces Gel Kajal disappoints in the way it “sets”. Or rather, doesn’t set. While it is water-resistant, it is NOT smudge and transfer proof and can get quite messy if you aren’t careful because it smudges a LOT! This is the only thing that I really dislike about this gel kajal because by the end of the day, it would have smudged a lot. While travelling, when I have worn it the entire day, Imade sure to carefully dab away the smudges from under my eyes each time I went to the washroom. Tedious, but then the kajal does last all day.

Left- unsmudged. Right – smudged.

That one negative aside, I absolutely love the Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal because it makes  doing smokey eyes a breeze – without any eyeshadow! In the  picture above, all I have on my eyes is this kajal and I love the effect it gives.

And here’s another picture of me wearing the Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal, this time without smudging it…

As you can see, it really does give a beautiful, intense black line in just one stroke and looks fabulous whether you smudge it or not. I only wish that it didn’t spread / smudge so much and would be transfer-proof when set.

Have you tried the Faces Ultime Pro Intense Gel Kajal? What’s your take on it? Let me know in the comments.
