The shades in this palette are absolutely gorgeous and would suit all Indian skin tones. With warm rose, orange and brown shades, I have been reaching out for this palette for almost every wedding / reception function that I have had to attend recently. In fact the colours in this palette are the ones that one finds in most Indian tradtional outfits.

The eyeshadows in this palette have good pigmentation and are quite soft and creamy. There is minimum fallout with the exception of the  orange and the dark brown shades in the bottom row which are more powdery than the others and have a bit of fall out. The gold in this palette is also lovely since it has a satin finish, isn’t too blingy and  shimmery. Here are the swatches:

Lakme Eyeshadow Palette Royal Persia

While the French Rose palette is my favourite, the Royal Persia palette too has some gorgeous shades. However, you can’t use this palette just by itself since there aren’t any neutral shades to pull a look together. That said, the teal-y turqouise (top left), the plum (bottom left) and the coral pink (bottom center) are my favourite shades from this palette.

I found the grey shade (top right) and purple (top center) to be a bit chalky and not as pigmented as the others in this palette and I needed to go over those 3 times to get the pigmentation you can see in the swatches. And the gold (bottom right) doesn’t even show up on my skin tone as you will see in the swatches below:

As you can see in the picture above, the gold that I have swatched after the pink doesn’t even show up. It is perfect for highlighting under the brow bone though.

EOTD With the Lakme Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette in French Rose

EOTD with Lakme Iluminating Eyeshadow palette in french rose

In this EOTD, I am wearing shades from the French Rose palette – the gold as an all over shade, the burnt orange one (bottom left in the palette on the lid and the dark brown (top middle) in the outer corner off the upper lid as well as the crease and lower lash line.

My Views

I had actually wanted to do a video review with a tutorial of these two palettes. However, since the last fortnight, things have been a bit hectic on the domestic front with my mom-in-law on bedrest due to a hairline fracture on her femur, both boys unwell, a stream of guests coming to visit and weddings that I had to represent my family at. As a result, I haven’t even been blogging since all  my time goes in all the dometic duties. Anyway, coming back to these palettes, I absolutely LOVE  the French Rose one and also some of the shades in the Royal Persia one. The pigmentation in most shades is really good and the shadows are soft and creamy enough. The only drawback is that when you have more than one of these palettes, you have to check the shade name behind since they all have the same black packaging. Wish there was a window on the top that showed the shades inside.

What do you think of these new eyeshadow palettes? Which one did you like more? Do let me know in the comments below.
