The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter Review

There is something very comforting and soothing about fragrances that you associate with your childhood. Vanilla is one such fragrance that always reminds me of it; vanilla ice creams and vanilla cookies with tutti frutti bits in it that was available when I was a child (I don’t remember which brand it was but it came in a hexagonal tube-like packaging and another favourite flavour was honey and orange.)

So, last month, when I saw the Christmas edition body butters at The Body Shop store, it was quite a no brainer that the Vanilla Bliss one would surely be one of my purchases. This is the first TBS body butter that I tried because till now, I only used Victoria’s Secret Garden Collection and Bath and Body Works body lotions and creams thanks to my bro and bhabhi who are in the USA and my parents who make frequent trips there. Now that my stash of those precious creams was over, I decided to give TBS a shot.

The body butter has a luxuriously thick texture which kind of melts into the skin. It is very hydrating and gets absorbed into the skin really fast so no greasy fingerprints anywhere. Because it is thicker than other creams (of course, it is a butter) it takes a little effort to spread evenly over the body but it does leave the skin incredibly soft, smooth and hydrated. The box claims 24 hour hydration and yes, it DOES live up to its claims.

I took this body butter on my trip to Ranthambore a fortnight ago and boy, was it CHILLY there!!! The weather was really cold and dry and TBS body butter was my skin’s saviour. Just one application after my shower and my skin was moisturised the whole day. It didn’t even feel dry/tight/scaly the next morning!!! And flaky skin??? What’s that?

I used this butter for both my boys during the trip and they both loved the vanilla fragrance too. So they gladly let me apply the cream on them otherwise, you can imagine what a battle it is to put any sort of cream on boys! The fragrance is a warm comforting scent of vanilla and I could detect a hint of cinnamon too. It lasts on the skin for about a couple of hours (the fragrance of Bath and Body Works creams lasts the whole day!!!)

Overall, I really love TBS body butter and especially this fragrance, though being a limited edition, it is priced higher than the other butters. I’m surely stocking up on more during the sale to last me till my stocks of BBW and VS are replenished 😉

Which is your favourite body cream?

PS – please ignore my desperately-in-need-of-a-manicure hands…I really need a mani-pedi but just don’t have time to go to a salon…too much happening on the home front.
