Burberry Weekend EDP: My Favourite-est Perfume For Day Wear

I’ve lot count of the number of bottles of Burberry Weekend that I’ve finished since I wore it for the first time on my 21st birthday years ago. (And as you can see from the picture, I’ve also lost the lovely matte silver cap of the fragrance which has Burberry embossed on it.) I’ve bought several other fragrances over the years, some which I really loved, but nothing replaces Weekend as my favourite day wear fragrance. My favourite fragrance for evening wear is Ralph Lauren Glamorous but since that has been discontinued, I’m still searching for a worthy successor.

Weekend has been described as a Floral-Sparkling fragrance.
Top Notes: Tangerine – Sap Greenness – Reseda Greenness
Heart Notes: Blue Hyacinth – Wild Rose – Orris – Nectarine
Base Notes: Cedarwood – Sandalwood – Musk

Weekend is one of the most unique, and identifiable, fragrances I’ve ever worn! There have been so many instances over the years when girls have come up to me and said, “You’re wearing Burbbery Weekend right?” So many people have even asked me which fragrance I’m wearing coz it smells so lovely and different!
If I had to describe this fragrance, I would say that it is a bright, musky floral with a touch of citrus. I really can’t describe fragrances too well, but this should give you an idea that this isn’t a very sweet, cloying floral. When you spray it initially, it smells citrusy, fresh, floral. The first whiff conjures up images of open meadows with wild flowers and sparkling lakes and a picnic by the lakeside. Though it isn’t very strong and in-your-face, it isn’t mild either and does last quite long too. Towards the end of the day, you can smell the soothing warmth and muskiness of the perfume.
Because of this unique combination of fragrance notes, I find this perfume ideal for day wear in summers as well as winters and of course, even in monsoons. I know that fragrance is a very personal choice, and what one person might like, another might find nauseating, but I would definitely recommend this fragrance for day wear and office wear. If nothing else, to at least try out at a store. It’s not a part of Burberry classics since so many years for no reason….
The official price for this perfume is Rs. 4300 in India though there are several websites that offer huge discounts on it. Personally, I have always been sceptical of buying fragrances and cosmetics online coz you really can’t say if they are genuine. I usually buy perfumes from Duty Free (or tell a relative/friend who is travelling to get it for me). My parents in law had got this one for me from Dubai in December and though I use it 3-4 times a week, I still have half the bottle left.
Have you used this perfume? What do you think of it? Which is your favourite fragrance to wear during the day/in the office?

I’m looking for a decent day fragrance 🙁 For night, my fave is now Tresor Midnight Rose, followed by J’Adore and F for Fascinating By Night – Midnight Poison if I want something really strong. But I’ve found nothing remotely decent for daytime yet. I’ll sniff this over the coming week 🙂
