EOTD With Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadows.

When I reviewed the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre shadows (see post here), I had promised you that I would do an eye look with these two shadows though I am really bad at taking macro pics of eye makeup. Anyway, here is my first attempt at an eye makeup tutorial.

      Chanel Illusion d'Ombres eyeshadows

This is my go-to look for weddings or Diwali coz it is so simple and quick. I do sometimes substitute Ebloui for some other colour depending on what I’m wearing, but usually, it looks good with most Indian outfits. So, here are the steps for this simple look.
Step 1:
         Chanel Illusion d'Ombre eyeshadow Apparence
On moisturised and prepped eyes, apply a wash of Apparence all over the lid. Here, I have used a light layer though you can build up the intensity to get it as shimmery as you want. For the gold shadow, I use my fingers to apply since I want to apply it to the eyelid and I don’t need much precision. I don’t use any eyeshadow primer either, just normal foundation/concealer and it works well for me.
Step 2:
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre eyeshadows Apparence and Ebloui
Add Ebloui to the outer edge of the eye and along the crease too. Again, layer it and make it dark if you like. For this colour, I slightly dampened the brush that came along with the shadow. I had thought that there would be a lot of fallout from these but it really isn’t much.
Step 3:
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre eyeshadows Apparence and Ebloui

Apply liner on the upper and lower lash line as well as on the water line, if you like. Here I’m wearing the Maybelline Colossal Kajal, which, as you know has replaced the Estée Lauder Double Wear eye pencil as my HG. If I have more time to get ready (very, very unlikely) then I use the Maybelline gel liners. Though usually, I prefer eye pencil coz it’s much faster 😉

Step 4:
       Chanel Illusion d'Ombres Apparence Ebloui

Apply mascara, brush away the fallout and voilà, done! I’m so rushed for time usually, that I skip highlighting under the brows too. I could have done it here, but didn’t coz I wanted to show you that it looks quite decent even without the highlighting. Agree/disagree?

I don’t like to fidget with my brows either coz I feel that I’m blessed with quite nicely shaped ones. (I’ve never got them shaped or threaded.) Though of course, in these macro pics, my eyebrows look untidy. Hmmm, maybe I should get a brow gel or something.
So, this is the final result…..

Because this is not too dark or smokey and the colours are quite neutral,  I can do my lips however I want, n*de, bright, red….they all look good with this. At one wedding, where there was barely enough time between pheras and reception to change outfits, I didn’t bother re-doing my entire makeup. After changing the outfits for both boys and changing my clothes and jewellery, I simply wiped away the remains of my lippie, applied a red one and was out of the door!

This simple look can be created using any gold and brown/black shadow though I have used Chanel. And it doesn’t take much time either, so if you have kids, this is quick and easy enough. Oh, and very few products too. Here are the products I have used…
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Apparence, Ebloui, MAC studio sculpt concealer, Colossal Kajal, Arden mascara
I hope you liked this tutorial. Yes  there’s lots of scope for improvement so please give me your honest feedback and tips especially for photography.
