TIGI Bed Head Colour Goddess Shampoo and Conditioner Review

When I got my monsoon-ready” haircut at the Juice Salon, the hairstylist mentioned Tigi’s shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair.  What really got me excited was when she mentioned that this range smelt like chocolate! Chocoholic that I am,  I simply had to try them out. Did I like them? Read on to know…..

About the Colour Goddess Range

“Colouring hair requires maintenance, especially during summer when the weather can repell the colour making the hair dull and lifeless. Using their extensive network of research teams across the world,  Tigi enhances their wash and care range with improved technology and colourful packaging to maintain brilliant blondes, bold brunettes and electrifying reds.

The Colour Goddess Shampoo worth Pro-Vitamin B5 and vitamin E cares for coloured hair and is infused with nourishing sweet Almond oil, coconut oil and keratin.

The Colour Goddess Conditioner, infused with sweet Almond oil,  deposits a micro-layer of water repelling agents on the hair without feeling heavy. The indulgent formula contains Shea Butter,  Vitamin E and keratin. “

Packaged in a brown bottle with a pump,  the Colour Goddess Shampoo is a thick,  creamy, caramel-scented, light yellow shampoo with a faint bit of shimmer! It lathers very well and cleans the hair without making it feel extremely dry. Of you have oil in your hair,  then you would need to shampoo twice to get it all out, depending on the amount of oil in your hair.

This shampoo does add moisture to my dry hair and makes it feel soft and smooth. I always use a conditioner after shampooing since my hair is also frizzy. Like I said, I love the fragrance of this shampoo and do feel that it helps my coloured hair look more shiny.

I like the fact that the bottle comes with a pump since that makes it easier to dispense the required quantity of shampoo,  but it makes the bottle difficult to travel with. Anyway,  you wouldn’t want to travel with such a big,  400ml bottle of shampoo,  would you?

Though the shampoo is really nice,  it does have some negatives; it has SLS, Phenoxyethanol and silicones, along with other chemical names I can’t understand.  If you don’t mind those,  then it definitely is a really nice shampoo.

Price: ₹1125 for 400ml

The Colour Goddess Conditioner comes in a handy tube with a flip-top cap. The gold foil on the tube gives a pretty holographic effect in the lights. Tubes are the best sort of packaging for shampoos, conditioners, bodywashes…. basically all kinds of creamy products since it is easy to dispense the required quantity and keep the rest of the product hygienic.

The conditioner is a light yellow thick cream that adds moisture to my hair without weighing it down. It smoothens the hair, helps control frizz and also adds a bit of shine to the hair. The shine is more noticeable when I blow-dry or iron my hair rather than when I let it air dry. And of course, the amazing fragrance!!! Is like having desserts without the calories. When I get a dessert craving, I sniff this. And after 10 minutes, eat a chocolate anyway….Lol.

This does have mineral oil and silicones as well as phenoxyethanol and though it also has sweet Almond oil, coconut oil and soybean oil, they feature much lower down the ingredient list. Mineral oil is something I’ve had a gripe with but I have been reading a lot about it and will write a post on it soon.

Price ₹850 for 200ml.

My Thoughts

While I am not very happy with some of the ingredients in the Tigi Bed Head Colour Goddess Shampoo and Conditioner, I have to admit that they are really good products. I am currently using the Kaka Hair Darkener to colour my hair and that is essentially henna followed by indigo. Henna, as everyone knows, has the tendency to dry out the hair and make it frizzy and straw-like. With these products, not only does the colour look nice and shiny, my hair is well moisturised and relatively less frizzy.
I also like the fact that the shampoo bottle is 400ml while the conditioner is 200ml because I can now finish both at the same time. Call me finicky but I get very irritated when the shampoo gets over but not the conditioner. I belive most of us face that since we use more shampoo than conditioner. Agree?

And hey, please do vote for Indian Shringar at the BlogAdda WIN15 awards. Thank you 🙂

  1. I always think of trying TIGI brand and always postpone it considering its bit expensive for my pocket! 😛 I look forward to try this one though…

PS: I totally get you when you say the shampoo finishes before the conditioner.. happens with me all the time..

    1. While Tigi has some really nice products, the shampoo I would strongly recommend to you is Om Ved. It is THE BEST shampoo I’ve used.
