After several seasons of flawlessly madeup and heavily contoured faces, makeup trends for summer call for soft, dewy skin that look fresh and natural. I, personally, happily welcome this trend because I have always prefered to keep my makeup looking natural and letting some of my freckles show. Keeping this trend in mind, one of my favourite brands, The Body Shop, has launched a new foundation, the Fresh Nude foundation to give you a dewy, fresh finish that looks like natural skin. The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation comes in a round bottle with a black cap. To my delight, it also comes with a pump making it easy to dispense the right amount of product without creating a mess. As with most foundation bottles, this one too is made of glass so it needs careful handling.
The lightweight texture of this foundation makes it super easy to apply and blend whether you choose to apply with a makeup brush or your fingers. It has sheer coverage and will even out your skintone but won’t cover up any imperfections or marks on your face. I love how natural it feels on the skin – almost as though I haven’t got any foundation on – and looks just as natural too. The Body Shop Fresh Nude foundation isn’t as thick as the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation nor as runny as the L’Oreal Nude Magique.
Because it is light coverage foundation, it doesn’t last very long. On me, it lasts around 4 hours; 5 max if I set it with powder which I very rarely do.
Internationally, there are 16 shades available in this foundation of which 7 are available in India. When I had gone to buy the foundation, I was quite sure that the shade 040 would be perfect for my skintone but the SA insisted that 050 Sicily Amber would be the right match. I did swatch on both but couldn’t decide in the store lights so trusting her judgement, I went for 050. My instincts were right, however and 050 is indeed dark for my skintone. However, since it’s summer, I’m sure to tan a bit so I guess it would work for me. Or I can always mix it with a foundation that is too light to create my custom shade.
As you can see from the swatch above, the shade 050 is definitely dark for me. However, since I apply just a light layer and since it is summer, it doesn’t seem that dark. Here’s how it looks on me….
All I am wearing here is The Body Shop Fresh Nude foundation, eyeliner, lipstick and blush. No primer, no strobe cream, no highlighter. And yet, see the fresh, natural glow this foundation gives? This picture was taken at 7:30 in the morning when I was getting ready to go to son’s school for a PTA meet (you would have seen this if you follow me on Snapchat – handle indianshringar). For mornings (and all other times when you are in a hurry) when you want to do quick makeup and don’t want to look “all made up”, this is the foundation I would recommend. It works wonderfully for girls with dry, normal and combination skin but girls with oily skin should avoid it as it would make their skin look oilier and shinier.

My Views
The Body Shop Fresh Nude is the perfect foundation for summers for dry and normal skinned girls who want a natural, radiant finish (just make sure you get the right shade). It is great for all those times when you don’t want to look too made up but want to even out the skintone. I love the fact that it doesn’t cling to any dry patches and that it applies so smoothly. It does make oily areas like the T-zone look shiny so you would need to powder those. This is the foundation I find myself reaching out for the most in the mornings when I am in a hurry and if you too are fond of a lightweight, natural finish, then I would suggest you check out The Body Shop Fresh Nude foundation.
Have you tried this foundation? What sort of coverage / finish do you prefer? Let me know in the comments.
May i know your foundation equivalent for MAC/NARS/Bobbi Brown?
I am NC42 in MAC and 3W2 Cashew in Estee Lauder.
I love light-medium coverage and this seems perfect…
Do try it out and see 🙂
