A Christmas gift from me to me - the @kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar 42. I’m not really a candy / sweet fragrance kind of girl but I was intrigued by the notes and bought a travel size. And I loved it so ordered a full-sized bottle!

Like the name suggests, VCRS is a sweet fragrance but I also find it fun and playful. This isn’t a warm, creamy vanilla but a juicy, fruity bubblegum. But that doesn’t mean that it smells juvenile. It’s more like that woman who’s always young-at-heart, who brings life to your party, the mom who enjoys theme parks as much as her kids, or the friend you call when you’re feeling low because she is cheerfulness personified. That is what this fragrance feels like to me.

It opens with a burst of juicy pear and boozy bubblegum (someone should invent that flavour). In a few minutes, once it settles a bit , I get some soft, sweet caramel followed by mellow woods. It is actually so beautifully blended that it’s difficult to pick up several of the individual notes. What you get instead, is a beautiful, cheerful fragrance.

The only downside to VCRS is its longevity. I barely get 4-5 hours of wear time from it and so I carry the travel size with me in my bag for touch ups.

Top notes: Vanilla, Pear, Marshmallow, Rum, Violet Leaves and Ylang-Ylang
Middle notes are Bubble Gum, Jellybean, Caramel, Jasmine and Labdanum
Base notes: Sugar, Patchouli, Tonka, Cashmere Wood, Sandalwood and Vetiver.

If you’re travelling to Sikkim, make sure you add Buddha Park in Ravangla to your itinerary. This massive, 130ft statue was erected to commemorate the 2550th birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha.

The park is massive and serene with great views, beautifully manicured lawns, several pathways with the prayer wheels, a meditation centre, and even a Shiv temple! Everywhere you’ll find small signs with quotes from Buddha’s teachings. There’s also a lake there which we missed seeing as it had become very cloudy and windy and extremely cold. It is such a serene place and a must-visit.

So many of you asked me which place this was; it’s the beautiful @vivantasikkimpakyong with its lovely temperature controlled pool.
Our stay here seemed to fly by so fast, and we didn’t even get any time to enjoy the pool or the beautiful twilight view of the valley from the terrace. Because of the current road repairs, it took us much more time to travel to the different places from the resort than I had anticipated. But we hope to come back here soon just to enjoy the property.

A day at Nathu-La Pass & Tsomgo Lake.

Nathu-La Pass is where the LOC of the current Indo-China border is. Photography there is strictly prohibited because of security reasons of course so, though I wanted to, I couldn’t take pictures of our Tiranga there. I did manage to get a good video of our flag at one of the army barracks on our way back though. Goosebumps moment.

I was hoping we would get snow there since it’s late December but unfortunately it was a bright, incredibly sunny day, though very windy with temperatures around -2°C around noon. You can see my hair flying all around in the pictures because of the wind. There was a smattering of snow and some mini frozen waterfalls so of course I had to get a couple of pics clicked there.

En route to Nathu-la, we caught a gorgeous glimpse of the Majestic Kanchenjunga mountain playing hide n seek with the clouds. Its beauty is truly mesmerising .

Special shoutout to the @bro.gref for the amazing smooth roads leading up to Tsomgo & Nathu-La. Not only are they very well maintained, there are witty safety quotes all along the route as well. The meandering roads not only have incredible views, but are also lined with thousands of prayer flags that add to the whole experience.

Tsomgo lake is beautiful but again, no snow there either. We took the ropeway up to the view point the views of the valley from there were absolutely incredible. The clouds were descending, it was windy and a truly surreal experience that the camera does no justice to.

The easiest and quickest nighttime routine for all

The easiest and quickest nighttime routine for all those late nights when you’re exhausted and all you want to do is get into bed and sleep 😴

No extra steps, no fancy serums, just a basic but highly effective skincare routine:

* 1st cleanse - use a cleansing oil / balm to get rid of all the makeup / sunscreen / the day’s sweat, sebum, pollution from your skin. Here I’m using the @laneige_in Waterbank Cleansing Oil which is one of my favourites.

* 2nd cleanse - to ensure there is no residue left over from the previous step. You can use a cleanser depending on your skin type and skin’s requirements. Here I’m using the @dermalogicain Daily Microfoliant to give my skin gentle exfoliation.

* Lip Care - our lips need care and pampering too, so a good lip balm at night is a must. My current favourite is the new Laneige Bouncy Lip Treatment because it makes me wake up to soft and supple lips in the morning.

* Moisturiser - when you’re exhausted, you don’t want to do multiple steps of product layering with toners, essences, serums etc. What you need is one trustworthy moisturiser that will do the job. My absolute favourite one, which is great for sensitive skin btw, is the @biodermaindia Atoderm because it soothes my skin’s barrier as well as moisturises it.

Even if you don’t have time for elaborate skincare routines, this simple one, when followed consistently, will give you great results. Try it out.

The cooler weather is the perfect time to bring out all the spicy, woody fragrances. I’ve realised that most of the men’s fragrances that I find sexy, are spicy-woody ones. These are some of my favourite men’s fragrances for winter:

@memo.paris Vaadhoo - warm and spicy, a little bit floral and oh so elegantly sexy. It is so beautifully blended and so complex that you’re going to be hooked from first spritz to dry down.
Top notes are Ginger, Basil and Cassis; middle notes are Geranium, Immortelle and Jasmine; base notes are Vetiver, Patchouli and Moss.

@atelierdesors Noir By Night - woody, aromatic, a little spicy, a little salty / savoury and extremely sensuous and elegant. There’s a hint of smokiness in here that makes it very, very attractive.
Top notes are Incense and Coriander; middle notes are Caviar, Mate and Dreamwood; base notes are Sandalwood, Guaiac Wood and Cashmere Wood.

@ysl La Nuit de l’Homme - La Nuit de l’homme - a favourite since it was launched 15 years ago, this is again, an incredibly sexy and addictive fragrance. It’s woody with a hint of sweetness and a dash of spice and very, very seductive. In fact, I would call it intoxicating.
Top note is Cardamom; middle notes are Lavender, Virginia Cedar and Bergamot; base notes are Vetiver and Caraway.

@calvinklein Obsession - another all-time favourite through the decades, this one is rich, warm, spicy and so addictive. It’s the perfect balance of citrus, spice, sweetness, amber and musk and is a mass favourite for a reason.
Top notes are Cinnamon, Lavender, Coriander, Mandarin Orange, Lime, Bergamot and Grapefruit; middle notes are Myrhh, Nutmeg, Carnation, Brazilian Rosewood, Pine Tree, Sage, Jasmine and Red Berries; base notes are Amber, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Musk, Patchouli and Vetiver.

@burberry London - yet another favourite since years. It’s woody, with the freshness of lavender, a touch of sweetness from the cinnamon and warmth from leather and tobacco. Very elegant and refined, it has a timeless appeal to it.
Top notes are Cinnamon, Lavender and Bergamot; middle notes are Leather and Mimosa; base notes are Tobacco Leaf, Guaiac Wood, Opoponax and Oakmoss.

Dinner date with my bestie, @chetnamehta9699 last night at the beautiful@qeybombay was pure perfection! Amazing ambience, delicious food, an extensive bar menu with a DIY Gin & Tonic trolly as well as great music, Qey has nailed the recipe for a perfect dining experience.
Swipe to see all the yumminess and me playing bartender. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, but my favourite was the melt-in-your-mouth Vanilla Pannacotta.

Can’t wait to go back and try the other yummy dishes on their menu 🙌🏼❤️
