DIY Make Your Own Coloured “Lip Butter”

You know, when I was in school, I used to love chemistry practicals….fiddling around with different acids and chemicals, tungsten burners, pipettes, watching the chemical reactions and seeing the colours change….
My current fave red lippie is MAC Ruby Woo which is a really dry matte and winter doesnt really help it. So I thought why not make my own hydrating lip butter out of it. And then I thought, why dont i just make a different colour altogether!!!
So I got out some lippies, a candle etc and made my own lip butter. You can do it too…either transform your matte lipstick into a hydrating one or mix up colours and make a whole new lippe!!! Lets get started shall we?
What you will need:
 * A lipstick/lipsticks of your choice
* A sharp knife
* A steel spoon
* A candle and matchsticks
* A small empty tin/tub to put the new lipstick into
And most importantly…..
* Lip balm (preferably untinted)

These are the lipsticks I chose to mix, MAC Ruby Woo (though I didnt really feel like cutting any of them), Red Earth Lipstick in PK082 and Revlon Colorburst in Peach, mixed up with L’Occitane lip balm.

Slice a bit of each lippie (amount depends on the final colour you wish to get) and put them in a metal spoon….

Add the lip balm and hold the spoon over a candle flame to let the lippies melt…..

Mix up the molten lipstick colours and lip balm well with a lip brush while holding over the flame…..

When all the colours and the balm have melted completely and mixed well, pour into a small empty pot. Make sure you dont touch it coz it will be really hot! And pour it quickly coz it will start solidifying very quickly too….

And voila….you have made your unique shade of lip butter (pls excuse the messy pot)…..

So, what shall I name this colour? Maybe I’ll melt this again and add a bit more of Ruby Woo to make it a bit bolder…what say?

Are you eager to make your own lip butter?
