Packaged in a sleek black tube, the part that has Shiseido written on it is the part that has the doe foot applicator. The black packaging looks really chic but if you have more than one such lacquers, you would have to check the shade numbers at the bottom to find the shade you want.
The doe-foot applicator is quite small and picks up small quantities of product at a time. This is actually a very very good thing when you see just how intensely pigmented this lacquer is! You need a very little amount to apply a light layer onto the lips. And that one layer is enough to give absolutely full coverage.
Here’s what Shiseido has to say about this unique lacquer:
To develop a truly lacquer-like lipstick, Shiseido has developed a process that allows a liquid formulation to add smoothness, colour and shine to lips in the same way that lacquer does to wood. The result is a completely modern rouge that gives lips an exquisitely sensual, lacquer-like finish in just one coat.
I know I am repeating myself when I say that it has intense pigmentation, but honestly, you need to see it to believe it! The colour actually seems to cling to the lips and feels so very weightless. It isn’t sticky like a gloss but feels just moist like a hydrating lipstick.
The colour RD607 Nocturne, is “an intense dark red, suggestive of evening.” It is. Deep cranberry red colour which would look good on all skin tones but is clearly not for the faint hearted. In fact, this is the perfect red for brides coz it lasts long too!
I’ve worn this lipstick just once at a friend’s party and this lasted me through snacks, drinks and the birthday cake! Though the sheen fades after about 4 hours (or maybe the snacks and cake caused the fading), it leaves quite a stain. And that comes off with a good makeup remover.
This is how it looks on me in daylight and in yellow light.
It’s quite a bad pic but I wanted to show you how well it has lasted on my lips. I had been wearing this lacquer for almost 4 hours and this pic was taken after the snacks and the cake!!!
Priced at Rs. 1500 (the same price as the new MAC Mineralize lippies), it is quite well priced for a premium brand as Estée, Lancôme etc are priced higher. There are 12 colours in this collection and I’m very tempted by the disco pink and beige ones. I had another colour in this too, RS312 Sunstone which is also a beautiful colour but I seem to have lost it. I think I forgot it in the hotel room on my last weekend break 🙁
What do you think of this Lacquer?
PS – This product sent by PR, the RS312, I had bought myself. Review is honest and totally unbiased.
