It’s been a little more than two months since I first showed you this beautiful lipstick in my haul post here. In those two months, this lipstick is by far the most worn lipstick in my current collection and I’m shocked that I haven’t yet reviewed it! Well, better late than never…..
Let’s see what Bourjois claims about the Shine Edition lipstick and whether the lippie lives up to those claims…..
Bourjois: A new generation formula that brings shine, colour and comfort to your lips. An ultra-shine result, thanks to a new ¼ gloss extract for amazing shine-wrapped colour.
My take: Shine, check. Colour, check. Comfort, check.
Bourjois: The new sensuous formula gives ultimate comfort. Enriched with nourishing mango butter extracts, Shine Edition leaves lips moisturised for up to 10 hrs.
My take: This lipstick glides on my lips like a dream! I usually wear a lip balm under my lipstick but with this one, I don’t need to. It feels comfortable and quite weightless and doesn’t dry out my lips. The 10hrs moisturisation is a bit of an exaggeration. Not 10 hours, but my lips feel soft and moisturised for about a couple of hours after the lipstick has worn off.
Bourjois: Its rich and melting formula provides cushion comfort and makes application addictive!
My take: “Makes application addictive”! Tell me about it! Yup, it has got me addicted and that’s why this has become the lipstick I wear most frequently. And that is because of its smooth, gliding texture and lovely colour.
The Shine Edition lipstick is moderately pigmented and one swipe, while depositing colour, isn’t opaque enough to cover my pigmented lips. I need to go over them a couple of times to get more coverage. Also, it doesn’t last too long. 3-4 hours is the max that it stays on but it leaves behind a beautiful stain.
The colour I bought, 1,2,3…Soleil is a beautiful coral that looks fabulous on my medium tan skintone. It leaves behind a pretty orange stain too. Soleil, by the way, is the French word for the sun and just as the sun brightens up the world, this colour brightens up my face 🙂
Bourjois: And the icing on the cake…It’s shiny, coloured packaging makes Shine Edition lipstick a true fashion accessory.
My take: Just look at the picture above. Isn’t the packaging chic and stylish? I love the mirrored silver cap and the burst of colour at the base of the lipstick. This also makes it super easy to spot the colour you want among a drawerful of lippies.
And now, for the price…
This little beauty is priced at Rs. 955. While Bourjois has always been the slightly high end, snobbier cousin of the drugstore brands, this kind of pricing puts it in the same bracket as MAC. There have been people who say that for this price, they’d rather buy a MAC lippie, but personally, I’m not a very MAC-obsessed person. Yes, I wish the pricing would have been slightly lower, but other than that, I really liked this lippie.
What do you feel about the Bourjois Shine Edition? Would you rather buy MAC for this price or would you go with Bourjois?
