At times, there are products that you love and use often and yet, forget to review them. MAC Pearglide Intense Eyeliner in Designer Purple is one such product (along with L’Oreal Chrome Shine in Sparkling Sepia which I think is now discontinued). Each time I wear it, I tell myself that I have to review it soon and then I forget about it. With Diwali almost here, let me show you a gorgeous, sparkling liner that adds that perfect little glimmer of bling to your festive look….
“An eye pencil that provides rich, luxurious colour with a touch of shimmer and sparkle. Soft, smooth, creamy formula glides on for a perfectly intense line, yet it’s soft texture allows you to blend. Long-wearing, smudge-proof.”
I love coloured eye pencils and liners and if they have soft shimmer in them then my day is made (like the Clinique Cream Shaper for Eyes in Black Diamond which is black but has amazing soft shimmer).
The Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners are pencil liners but not the twist up variety. They need to be sharpened which is something I really dislike because of the resultant product wastage. You can see how short the pencil has become already, after sharpening it a couple of times.
True to it’s claims, the texture of this liner is super soft and creamy. There is no tugging or pulling while applying this, neither does the shimmer in it feel gritty. However, because it is so soft, if the tip is sharp, like in the pic above, then it does break while applying the liner so I have to be really careful to apply with a light hand.
The colour is absolutely GORGEOUS! A beautiful purple flecked with silver mauve and purple shimmers, it looks great on Indian skintone. I have tried a purple eye pencil from Bourjois which looked lovely when swatched on my wrist but showed up as a dull grey on my eyelids. Thankfully, that isn’t the case with the Pearlglide liner as it is extremely pigmented.
Again, living up to it’s claims, MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner is long-wearing and smudge-proof. It. Does. Not. Budge!!! There have been times when I’ve slept with this liner on and have found it to be almost intact the next morning. I say almost because the shimmer does tend to spread when subbed/smudged. However, if you don’t have the habit of rubbing your eyes, it will definitely stay intact.
As you can see in this picture, the shimmer is all over the place. Mind you, I had to rub the swatch really, really hard for that to happen. And despite the rubbing, the liner is nearly intact.
Here’s how it looks on my eyes….
Please note, this isn’t how I usually wear this liner. My preferred way of wearing it is on the lower lash line though, sometimes, I do wear it on the upper eyelid too. Upper and lower, rarely, if ever.
Priced at ₹ 1,100 for 1.2g (that was the price when I bought it a few months ago. Not sure if the prices have increased now), it is certainly on the higher side but the colour, texture and pigmentation make it truly worth the price. My only gripe is that the pencil needs sharpening and that leads to a lot of wastage. If only MAC would re-launch this in a twist-up version, it would be ideal.
There are several other colours in this range but I’ve got my eyes on Petrol Blue (navy with shimmer) and Black Line (which is Black with gold pearl).
Which is your favourite colour from the MAC Pearlglide liners? Which is your all-time favourite shimmer eye pencil/liquid liner? Do tell me in the comments below.
This liner is so pretty…I am definitely going to try out this one and the blue one .
I’m going to try out some more shades as well 🙂
beautiful shade but need to be extra careful while handling i guess 🙂
Just don’t wear it on the water line or the shimmer might irritate the eyes.
