A few months ago, I had written a letter to a magazine for which they sent me a little hamper. One of the products in the hamper was a blush from MAC. Well, not just any blush, a limited edition one which is currently out of stock everywhere. The bright colour of the blush scared me a bit and I stashed it away in the endless depths of one of my makeup drawers. Yesterday, while searching for something, this blush came into my hands and I decided to try it out. Which blush am I talking about???
It’s the MAC Pro Longwear Blush in “Whole Lotta Love”…..
About MAC Pro Longwear Blushes
“A lightweight blush with extreme colour perfection and non-fading, eight hour wear. Ultra-fine, silky powder glides on and blends easily to provide a moist, flawless natural finish or with layering, a brighter, more dramatic look.”
The Pro Longwear blushes come in the same black packaging as their regular powder blushes. The black round pan which houses the blush, has a transparent lid so it is easy to find the right shade from among all the blushes.
Colour and Texture
Whole Lotta Love is described as a “light blue-pink” but the term “light” is quite a misnomer because there is nothing light about this blush. “Bright” would be a more accurate term since it is a bright mid-toned pink which looks cool-toned in the pan and in the swatch but looks warm on the cheeks. The texture is very smooth and soft and is almost creamy, not powdery or chalky at all. It blends easily but sets just as fast as well. And it is incredibly pigmented so you have to be very light-handed while applying it.

And here’s how the blush looks on me after more than 5 hours of wear!
Since this is such a bright colour, I had applied it with a very light hand to give a natural-looking rosy flush. And you can see that it didn’t fade even after more than 5 hours!
I checked with the MAC store and they said that the prices for limited edition blushes have increased and now cost ₹2000! For that price, you can get a Chanel blush! Anyway, this one is out of stock at the store that I checked with and since it is limited edition, I doubt it would be available elsewhere.
What do you think of this blush? Would you buy a limited edition MAC blush or would you rather buy a Chanel / Dior / Guerlain blush?
