Every day, on my way to and from younger son’s school, I pass by this store at Kemps Corner that has a very nice, “romantic kitsch” kind of vibe and each time I catch a glimpse of the stuff inside and decide to check it out. The name of the store is very unique too, “Love From India” and though this store has been open since a couple of years now, I finally went there last month. I went, I saw, I liked and I picked up some really pretty stuff, including this spacious tote that I’m going to show you. Read on to know more…..
About Love From India
Love From India isn’t an Indian wear store though, it is an amalgamation of Indian aesthetics with Western silhouettes. In their words, “Love From India (LFI) brings to life, the beauty and energy of India in the form of easy to wear, trendy and world class fashion wear.” From tunics and shirts to beach cover-ups and dresses to scarves, handbags and cushions, everything at LFI has an effortless stylish vibe and beautiful, unique prints. Resort wear is the term that springs to mind when you see the collections thanks to the breezy fabrics and fluid styles. LFI’s range includes beautiful India-inspired prints on fabrics such as cotton-silk, cotton, viscose and others that caresse the skin and are a delight to wear.
The store itself, is done up with a touch of kitsch in the decor with printed chairs, art deco sofas and glitzy chandeliers but with muted golds and little pops of colour in the decor.
Coming back to the tote, as much as I like designer brands, I also like stuff which is unique and different from all the monogrammed ones most of the moms around me carry (me included at times). And of course, I need a tote that can fit in all my stuff comfortably. There were some really lovely ones at Love From India, including some screen printed ones from LFI’s Lakme Fashion Week collection. The one I liked was this…..
I loved the “Indian” print on this tote as well as the soft peach colour (though if you are buying it online, the colour is mentioned as orange…it isn’t orange, it’s peach) and it looked just perfect for summer. The same tote was available in mint as well, but somehow, I prefered the peach.
Can you see how spacious it is? And yet it doesn’t look bulky but manages to fit everything well. There is no visible branding on the tote either for those who dislike flaunting the logos and monograms. But the best part is that this tote is made from faux-leather and so is totally cruelty-free! Faux leather is also easy to clean and maintain which is very good for a mother of two boys like me since my bags invariably get stained with mud, chocolate and God knows what else.
Since I am not a very “neat and tidy” person, my handbag reflects my personality. Which is why I bought this little bag organiser (that thing in purple) to maintain a semblance of organisation in this huge tote so that I can find things easily. It also makes it easier to switch handbags. As you can see, I have the bag organiser, a notebook, my wallet, sunglasses, a big tube of Soap and Glory Hand Food…and yet, there is space in the bag for more! And neither does it look bulky and cluttered.
Priced at ₹3,290, this tote is worth the price. It is so unique and different, that friends have asked me where I bought it from. It would also double up well as an overnighter if needed!
Love From India has five stores in Mumbai as well as one in Pune and their products are also available on their website www.lovefromindia.in. I really want to do an OOTD post with the LFI dress but that will have to wait because an outfit post needs good pics doesn’t it? What do you think of this tote? Do you prefer big bags or small ones? Do let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to enter my giveaway here for a chance to win a hair makeover.
