Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel – My HG Cleanser For Summer

Vichy Normaderm Cleansing Gel review and price in India

It’s 11 years now since the first time I used the Vichy Normaderm range in 2004 and I can safely say that this is one of those few products that has a permanent presence in my dresser. I have lost count of the number of tubes of the cleanser and the “TriActive Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care” moisturiser (reviewed here) that I have bought over the years. Most of the times, I use this cleanser in the week leading up to that time of the month to keep the breakouts under control. In the hot and humid summers however, this becomes my staple night-time cleanser (after I remove my makeup with a cleansing oil/balm). So here’s the long overdue review of the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel…..

“Deep cleansing gel for oily and acne-prone skin. Purifies skin and unclogs pores without dryness or irritation. Combines Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid and micro-exfoliating LHA to gently purify and exfoliate skin. Translucent gel lathers easily into a fresh foam that rinses clean. What’s The Packaging Like?

The Vichy Normaderm Cleansing Gel comes in a travel-friendly soft-squeeze green tube. I like the fact that the tube isn’t opaque so you can see exactly how much product is remaining. The flip-top cap and the small opening help in controlling the quantity of the product that you squeeze out.

Who Should Use It? When To Use It?

Vichy’s Normaderm range is an acne-control range and this cleanser is for oily/combination/acne-prone skin. Whether you are in your teens and experiencing your first acne breakouts or you’re dealing with adult acne, you can use this cleansing gel. I especially like to use this as my night-time cleanser in summer when my T-zone is oilier. But since my skin is dehydrated as well, I use a mild cleanser in the morning. If you have very oily skin, you can use it twice a day. The eyes have to be avoided, of course.

What Are The Ingredients?

The Good?

Just the fact that I have been using this since the last 11 years should tell you how much I love this cleanser. It is mild, gentle and really effective. The Salicylic and Glycolic Acids help in controlling the acne, have a mild peeling action and help in faster cell turnover. It also controls sebum well and hence is great for combination and oily skins. After washing my face with this cleansing gel, my skin feels super-clean and fresh without feeling very dry. And of-course, it is soap-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free.

The gel is really thin and a little runny but lathers well and rinses off without any trace. The entire Normaderm range also has a lovely pleasant fragrance that I love. It of course, doesn’t remove makeup (nor does it claim to) but it does get rid of the remnants of makeup and sunscreen as well as the cleansing oil/balm and all the dirt, grime and sebum leaving skin really clean.

The Not So Good?

It might be a bit drying for dry and sensitive skins which is why I, too, use it once a day instead of twice. Other than that, I really can’t think of any negative of this cleanser.

To Sum It Up

I have used, and am still using, several products from Vichy and I have to say the Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel is absolutely fabulous! Effective, affordable and travel-friendly, I highly recommend this cleanser.

  1. I have used the Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 cleanser and I found it to be just ok for my skin.. I have dry skin.. so I doubt if this cleansing gel would work for me..

    1. I haven’t tried the 3 in 1 cleanser yet but I assume it is clay based. I think this gel cleanser would be a better option for you but since you have dry skin, use it just once a day.

      1. Yeah sure Dollie.. I will try it..
