Lakme, the David taking on all the multinational Goliaths, keeps launching new and innovative collections each season. Last month, the Lakme Fashion Week saw the launch of the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in six playful colours with a matte finish. They will soon be launching 10 colours with a Creme finish and I’m really looking forward to those as well.
Since I was unable to make it to the LFW, they sent me three of the Lip Pouts to review in lovely pop colours – Raving Red, Tangerine Touch and Pink Fantasy. Read on to know more about these lip tints….
Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in Raving Red, Tangerine Touch and Pink Fantasy – Review and Swatch
About the Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts
“Lakme is all set to get you the perfect pout this season as it launches the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout, a new range of vivacious lip colours, presented in a crayon format to bring out the playfulness in you. Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts in reds, oranges and pinks invite you to have lots of fun with your makeup while promising a high colour – payoff and a long -lasting pout in just one stroke.”
Ever since Clinique launched the Chubby Sticks, secretary brands have rushed to launch their own versions of “lipstick in a crayon”. We beauty addicts certainly aren’t complaining though because the more, the merrier. Personally, I love this kind of packaging, especially when it is twist-up as is the case with the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout, since these “crayons” are portable, easy to apply and fit into even a clutch! It is a no-fuss, no-mess way to apply lipstick.
The crayon packaging is in the same shade as the lipstick making all the shades easily identifiable. I’m glad that they gave a silver cap (which again is matte in keeping with the matte lipstick) rather than a plastic one.
From left to right – Raving Red, Tangerine Touch and Pink Fantasy.
Raving Red is a true red with equal amounts of warm and cool tones in it. It would look good on almost all skin tones. Actually, all the three shades would look beautiful on almost every skintone!
Tangerine Touch is a lovely orange and I believe that’s the shade Kareena Kapoor is wearing on her upper lip in the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout TV commercial with Pink Fantasy, a pretty, bright fuchsia, on her lower lip.
All three shades are incredibly pigmented and your pout will be quite playfully powerful when you apply any of these shades. The texture, however, is quite dry and I have to apply a lip balm before I apply these.
Because of the pigmentation and the matte texture, these lipsticks last a decent amount of time on my lips; almost 6 hours, as long as I don’t eat anything. Water and coffee are fine though the lipstick does leave a mark on the glass / cup. If I do eat something, then the wear time drops down to around 3 hours. That’s not to say that the lipstick disappears. No… The lipstick stays on the lips but fades a lot from the inner rim. Since it is dry and matte, it also has a tendency to cling to the dry skin on the lips so rather than touching up on the same lipstick after food, I’d recommend wiping it all off with a tissue and then re-applying. Also, it is a good idea to exfoliate your lips before applying these lip pouts.
Priced at ₹650, these are certainly a good buy; bright colours, great pigmentation, decent lasting time and fun, easy to carry and apply packaging. You can overlook the dry texture and combat it with a lip balm.
