MAC Creme In Your Coffee Lipstick Review and Swatch

As much as I love red, fuchsia and coral lipsticks, there are times when all I want is a subtle,  subdued neutral lip. Something that I can wear with any kind of makeup or even without any other makeup!  MAC Creme In Your Coffee is one such gorgeous shade….

MAC describes Creme In Your Coffee as a “creamy mid-tone pink brown (Cremesheen).” The Cremesheen formula is very creamy and is said to have a high-shine finish.

The lipstick comes in the standard matte black bullet with the shade name on the bottom of the tube. I am not a big fan of this packaging since I have to check the names of all the lipsticks while searching for a particular one and when I’m in a hurry, it is especially annoying. As with all other MAC lipsticks, this too has the delightful vanilla fragrance.

The colour!  Oh, the lovely colour! MAC’s description is absolutely bang on because Creme In Your Coffee is exactly that….a mid-tone pink-brown. Or a dusty rose. Or a muted brown with a touch of pink.

Describe it whichever way you like,  it is a lovely “not too dark,  not too light” kind of shade.  The hint of pink in the brown keeps it from being a staid, boring brown. The shade is also deep enough to avoid getting classified as a nude shade (though it might appear that way on very pigmented lips)  but not as deep and dark as were in trend in the 90s.

The shade also appears different in different lights,  from different angles and on different skintones, appearing more pink sometimes while more brown at others.

The Cremesheen formula is truly creamy and along with the Amplified, is one of my favourite lipstick finishes from MAC. It has good pigmentation and, being creamy,  glides onto the lips without tugging. A couple of swipes gives full coverage with a nice shine.  I wouldn’t say that it is high shine or glossy but it is certainly shinier than the satin finish.

Because of the finish,  Creme In Your Coffee doesn’t last very long; around 3-4 hours on my lips.  Longer of I haven’t eaten anything.  However it is a very comfortable formula and doesn’t dry out my lips.

Isn’t it a beautiful dusty rose?  The lipstick looks a bit more pink in the hand swatch while on my lips it looks more brown.  Perhaps that is because of my pigmented lips?

MAC Creme In Your Coffee is one of my current favourite lipsticks for regular wear.  It is a nice neutral shade to wear pretty much everyday,  especially for work or for PTA meetings. Or even store hoping for checking out flooring options,  which is what I have been doing a lot these days for my home which is being renovated.

At ₹1450, it is priced a bit high but is definitely a colour everyone should have. It looks great on Indian skintones.

Have you tried MAC Creme In Your Coffee? Which is your favourite “not-too-dark-not-too-light” shade? Do let me know in the comments below.
