L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Review And Swatches

L'Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Review

Happiness is a lot of new makeup to play with. But at this time, when my schedule is packed with school meets, workers in the house, meeting with the architect, the constant drilling and hammering, and no time or space to play with all the new makeup and take pictures, it does lead to frustration. And a whole lot of posts piling up….

One of the posts that I kept putting off since I was waiting to do different makeup looks was the L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose collection with pretty pink lipsticks and nail polishes, of which they sent me a few. But since the workers are continuing at their own relaxed pace, I decided to review the products and show you the swatches first and then do the looks as and when I can…..

I was sent two shades from the Color Riche Moist Mat Range – Eva’s Delicate Rose and J.Lo’s Delicate Rose – and two from the L’Extraordinaire Mat – Azalea and Magnolia as well as a nail enamel in Katrina. Here’s a better look at each…

The lipsticks in the La Vie En Rose collection come packaged in a matte black case with gold detailing. Each one also has the signature of the ambassador who has chosen that shade. While the packaging does look nice and elegant, perhaps L’Oreal should have taken a page from Etude House and come up with pretty, elegant pink packaging for the pink collection…

Color Riche Moist Mat

L'Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Review

Eva’s Delicate Rose is a beautiful muted rose that is just perfect for daily wear for fair to medium skintones. When swatched on the hand, there is a faint bit of shimmer that shows up but thankfully, the shimmer doesn’t show up on the lips but just adds a little extra dimension to an otherwise dupeable colour. This lipstick isn’t as pigmented as the other Moist Mats or even the Pure Reds and I need about 4-5 swipes of the lipstick for complete opacity on my pigmented lips. It does, however, last quite long on me – 5 hours including lunch.

The name of J.Lo’s shade, J.Lo’s Delicate Rose, is quite a misonomer because this shade isn’t delicate. It is a berry pink, again with a faint bit of shimmer when swatched on the hand. For once, I am glad that the shade isn’t very pigmented because that makes it more wearable. Even girls who would shy away from deep lip shades can carry this off because at first swipe, it doesn’t come out  very dark as you can see in the swatch below. This beautiful shade is a universally flattering one and would suit girls of all skintones.

L’Extraordinaire Mat

First things first, these aren’t matte though the name suggests otherwise. They are, however, beautiful BEAUTIFUL  liquid lipsticks with a smooth, creamy texture, great pigmentation and lovely longevity. Though the shine and glossiness of these lipstcks fades after a couple of hours, the pigmented stain does last quite long.

Shade CPM10 Azalea – Sonam’s shade – is a gorgeous coral pink, a shade that will look good on almost all skintones. It is quite a bright shade and perfect for summer. These liquid lipsticks last really well too but do be prepared for them to transfer onto your glasses and cups.

CPM12 Magnolia – Julianne’s shade – is a gorgeous berry shade. At first glance, it looks like the liquid version of J.Lo’s shade but when you swatch it, you realise that it is darker. However, this is not a deep, dark purple that would be more gothic, but a brighter, more cheerful plummy shade. Again, this shade would suit pretty much all skintones. Here too, there’s faint shimmer that shows up on the hand swatch but not on the lips.

Color Riche Star Vernis

L'Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Review

There are four shades in the La Vie En Rose of which I was sent Katrina’s shade – a pretty, bright, bubblegum pink shade. Because of the recent shifting and unpacking my nails are barely more than stubs and the cuticles are in a terrible state (I desperately need a manicure. And a pedicure) and so I didn’t dare to take pictures of the polish on my nails.

Like I mentioned earlier, I haven’t been able to create a finished “Look” using these products. I did take a picture when I was wearing the L’Extraordinaire Mat in Magnolia and this is how it looks on me…

My Take

We all know that cosmetic companies need to keep coming out with  new collections to hold on to the fickle consumers. This is one of the most wearable collections since girls of all skin tones wear pinks in one shade or another. The matte texture of the lipsticks and the creamy one of the liquid lipsticks means that there’s something for everyone in L’Oreal Paris’ La Vie En Rose collection.
