The Body Shop is one brand that has consistently nice products. I especially LOVE their body butters with the limited edition Vanilla one being my absolute favourite. Needless to say that when The Body Shop launched the new Spa Of The World range, I was very excited to try out the body cream (and scrub, but that’s for another time). I had already been using the Polynasian Monoi Radiance Oil (shall do a detailed review on that soon) from this collection since December and I loved how it nourished my super dry skin all through winter. And it also smelt heavenly. The Hawaiian Kukui Cream has the same delightful fragrance as the oil and my skin is loving it. Read on to know more about this fabulous, rich cream…..
The Body Shop Hawaiian Kukui Cream Review
About The Body Shop Hawaiian Kukui Cream
“Hawaiian women, exposed to the relentless sun for generations, have held the secret of kukui oil to nurture their skin. Bursting with luscious moisture, kukui oil helps restore skin’s natural suppleness, leaving it feeling nourished and soft. Use this skin cherishing cream as part of our blissful ritual when your body is in need of luxury.”
Ingredients
Jojoba, Argan, Monoi….all these are oils I had heard of and even used in some products. I was curious to know what the Kukui Oil was. This is what it is; “Kukui nut oil is a natural moisturizer that has been used for centuries in Hawaii. It is produced by pressing oil from the kukui nut (or candlenut) tree, and it contains essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that help to soothe dry skin and heal wounds.” Kukui or Candlenut is also known as Tahitian Walnut and in Hindi is Jungli Akhrot so no wonder it is so rich in all these nourishing ingredients.
Besides the Kukui Nut Oil (Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil in the ingredient list), The Body Shop Hawaiian Kukui Cream also has Brazil Nut Oil (Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil), Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Glycerin and Beeswax to provide nourishment and moisture to the skin. All of these make the cream really rich and thick. Despite being so thick, the Kukui cream is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave behind an oily/greasy film on the skin. It makes my skin extremely smooth and leaves it feeling hydrated all day! The skin on my body is very dry and needs a good moisturising even in hot humid months and this cream gives it just the pampering care that it needs without making it feel sticky.
The Body Shop Hawaiian Kukui Cream comes in a 350ml jar which looks absolutely huge next to the normal body butter jars. It is a dark brown plastic jar with a screw on lid and you have to scoop the product out. I, personally, don’t mind that since I apply the cream after a bath anyway when my fingers are clean. Others who might be finicky would perhaps prefer to use a spatula.
Price
The ₹2,995 price tag might shock some people and I won’t deny that it does seem to be on the higher side. However, when you see the size of the jar, the rich, emollient texture and the amazing fragrance, you will admit that it is worth the price. And 350ml is a lot of product. This jar is definitely going to last for ages!
My Views
I absolutely, totally, whole-heartedly LOVE this cream and highly recommend it to to everyone, especially all those with dry skin who need to moisturise their skin but hate the sticky feel they get in the hot, humid weather. It fully lives up to it’s claimes of being a rich, nourishing body cream. With a delightful fragrance!
