The Body Shop is one brand that consistantly launches products that look good, smell good and make your skin good. I have used and loved The Body Shop Oils of Life Facial Oil so, of course, when they launched the Oils of Life Sleeping Cream, I was really keen to try it out. This review has been long overdue since I have been using The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream since a month and a half now and really love how it feels and how my skin looks and feels the next morning. So here’s my review of The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream.
The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream Review
About The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream
Price ₹2495 for 80ml.
“A night cream to moisturise, revitalise and nourish the skin whilst you sleep. Indulge in a holistic sensorial experience, specifically formulated to be applied on the face but also on the neck and decollete. This fresh, jellified yet cushiony and ultra-nourishing cream effortlessly melts onto the skin, leaving a light and comfortable finish and no sticky residue.”
Packaged in a heavy amber glass jar with a black screw-on lid, the Oils of Life Sleeping Cream is an addition to the Oils of Life range; a range that has products infused with 3 precious seed oils – anti-oxidant rich Black Cumin Oil from Egypt, Rosehip Oil, rich in Omega 3 and 6, from Chile and Camellia Oil, rich in nutritive oleic acid, from China. Most people don’t prefer a jar packaging since that means dipping their fingers in to get the product. I personally, don’t have an issue with glass jars since I use a clean spatula to scoop out the product. The packaging has a luxurious feel – just like how the cream feels on the skin.
The cream is pale yellow in colour and has a soft, cushiony, pudding-like texture. In fact, the cream actually looks like vanilla pudding! It is very lightweight and yet very hydrating and gets absorbed into the skin quickly. The skin feels moist after that but not sticky like with a sleeping mask. In this crazy September-October heat, the Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream gives adequate hydration to my combination skin. Those with drier skintones might need to apply a bit more since this cream is quite light.
Just like the Facial Oil in this range, the Sleeping Cream too, has a delightful fragrance with the aroma of cumin oil distinctively noticeable. The three oils mentioned above are infused with a blend of 7 essential oils – Lavender Oil, Rosemary Leaf, Geranium Oil, Orange Peel Oil, Lavandin Oil, Marjoram Leaf Oil and Roman Chamomile Oil. All of these make the cream smell heavenly but those with sensitive skin might want to avoid it since strong essential oils can irritate sensitive skin.
When I apply this cream, I feel a mild tingling on my skin for a couple of seconds after which it subsides. The light texture of this cream feels lovely on the skin and when I wake up in the morning, my skin feels hydrated and refreshed even when I haven’t had adequate sleep. My skin also appears more plumped up and that is probably because of Sodium Hyaluronate – a salt of Hyaluronic Acid. As mentioned earlier on the blog, I love to use products that have Hyaluronic Acid since that helps not only hydrate the skin but also helps the skin retain the moisture. That helps reduce fine lines that appear due to dehydration as well as prevent new ones from forming. However, if you already wrinkles or fine lines on your face, then remember, no product is going to magically erase them like they show in TV ads.
The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream is a wonderful night cream for hot, humid months when the skin needs light moisture. This gel-cream doesn’t feel heavy or clogging on the skin and hence is perfect for the current weather. While it is an expensive cream, it is really effective in delivering what it claims. You also need a small quantity per application so it will definitely last you a while. I had been using it for a month when I clicked these pictures and you can see how much is left in the jar after a month’s usage.
