Roots & Herbs Ayurvedic Products Review

Roots & Herbs review

This is one post that is long overdue since I had already used up the Pomegranate Elixir in the month of March, but for some reason or the other, I never managed to get around to writing it. While I was writing out the Nellie Tier post, I realised that I had yet to write about the Roots & Herbs products that had wowed me at the start of the year. So here it is; my review on three of the Roots & Herbs products that I have used – the Ashwagandha Skin Illuminator Face Ubtan and Activator Kit, the Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir and the Hibiscus Abundant Hair Lep. Read on to know more about these three products from Roots & Herbs.

Browsing through the site will leave you confused since there is a vast variety of products, each of which has very enticing ingredient so choosing a few becomes difficult. I emailed them for advice mentioning my skin type, skin issues and hair type and they recommended the following to me:

  • Ashwagandha Skin Illuminating Face Ubtan and Activator Kit
  • Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir
  • Hibiscus Abundant Hair Lep

Ashwagandha Skin Illuminating Face Ubtan and Activator Kit

Price ₹1,450 / 100gm + 220ml

Roota and Herbs review

This kit consists of two products – the Ashwagandha mask and the Activator. The mask is a powder that needs to be mixed with the activator  to make a paste and apply as a face mask. It claims to smoothen the skin and make it brighter and even toned. I have used this mask quite a few times and have noticed that it helps in fading old acne marks and also helps in removing all the gunk from the pores besides making the skin feel really smooth too.

Roots and Herbs review

The ingredient list is pretty impressive with Ashwagandha (wintercherry) which is almost like a miracle herb in Ayurveda, turmeric, rose extract, nutmeg, lemon etc. This mask has a very strong but pleasant fragrance while the activator has aloe vera, vetiver and clalendula, all of which are great for the skin. Despite my frequent usage, I still have quite a bit of the mask left still so one box will surely last a long time.

Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir

Price ₹ 1490 / 50ml

roots and herbs review

This product is just WOW! This bottle packs a serious punch and is the most amazing facial oil I have ever used. And the most aromatic too with a lovely, sensuous fragrance! From the time I opened the parcel, I could smell a wonderful fragrance which happened to be the Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir.

The folks at Roots & Herbs call it Skin Food since it is so nourishing and is a serum+moisturiser+sunscreen all in one. While this can be used during the day, I preferred to use it at night.

The Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir has amazing ingredients to match it’s amazing fragrance. It has extracts from the Pomegranate fruit and skin, rose, marigold and jasmine petals, wintercherry,  herbs such as nagkesar, jivanti, as well as cold pressed oils like olive, jojoba and wheatgerm. If you have dry, aging or mature skin then I highly recommend this elixir.

Hibiscus Abundant Hair Lep

Price ₹700 / 100gm

Roots & Herbs review

This is the only product that I have used just once since it is quite a time consuming task and I am almost always in a hurry. Regular usage of the Hibiscus Hair Lep prevents premature greying, hair fall, scalp infections and promotes the growth of healthy hair. After just one usage, my hair felt like it had been treated to a hair spa and I do think I need to schedule time for weekly applications of this lep.

Some of the ingredients in the Hibiscus Hair Lep are Amla, Aloe Vera, Hibiscus, Black Cumin, Ginger, Camphor, Sesame Oil, Castor oil and others.

My Views

I have always loved using Ayurvedic products and Roots & Herbs has some really great ones. I also love the fact that they are 100% Vegan and that they are sourced and made completely in India – thus helping in providing livelihood to several families. On my shopping list next are Pink Grapefruit Body Sculpting Massage Oil, Argan Facial Cleanser, 49 Herbs Miracle Hair Food and of course, the Pomegranate Kaya Kalp Elixir. Though the price might seem high, it is actually very good value for the quality and quantity that you get. The  ubtan especially lasts a long time and so does the elixir since you need just a couple of drops!

Have youo tried any products from Roots and Herbs? Do you like using Ayurvedic products?
