If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen the lovely package that I got recently from NYX Professional Makeup which had their new Love You So Mochi Collection. I have already done a quick unboxing video on IGTV though, because of a skin allergy that I was going through at the time, I could not try out any of the products on my face. The products all look amazing and, as promised, here’s a blog post with my first impressions on them as well as the swatches.
About the NYX Love You So Mochi Collection
Price Rs. 650 onwards. Available here.
“Our newest buzz-worthy formula is inspired by our favourite Japanese treat, Mochi.”
The new Love You So Mochi collection by NYX Professional Makeup is inspired by the Japanese Mochi – which are squishy rice cakes. The collection comprises of two highlighter palettes, two eyeshadow palettes, eight Powder Puff lipsticks as well as 7 new makeup brushes. Read on to know more about each and to see the swatches….
NYX Professional Makeup Love You So Mochi Highlighting Palette
Price Rs. 1250 each. Available here.
“Swap out your standard illuminator for the duo chromatic glow of your dreams! The NYX Professional Makeup Love You So Mochi Highlighting Palette comes in two color-kissed palettes that reflect light for a glossy-glow look at all angles. Each lightweight shade delivers incredible color and features the same soft and pillowy texture as our favorite Japanese treat—mochi!”
The Love You So Mochi Highlighters come in two variants; Lit Life – which features warm toned shades – and Arcade Glam which has cool toned shades. When I first opened these, I thought that peach shade in Lit Life would turn out to be my favourite of them all. While it is absolutely beautiful, the one I love the most is the white one in the Arcade Glam palette. What looks white in the pan translates as pink-gold on the skin and has the most beautiful duo-chrome effect. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture that accurately on camera.
I tried from so many different angles but simply couldn’t capture the duo-chrome effect. The top-most one is the one I love most – the pink-gold duo-chrome can’t be seen in the pictures. The middle one that looks pink in the pan, surprisingly turned out to be almost silver on the skin with barely any touch of pink while the last, bluish one translated more lavender.
The first colour in the NYX Lit Life Palette, pink is certainly icier and cooler than I had initially thought while the yellow gold seems to be a dupe of the Fenty Beauty Trophy Wife highlighter. I haven’t actually tried out Trophy Wife so I can’t be sure about this but that it what it seems to be from the swatches I have seen online. The third shade is a very pretty champagne gold that would look great on all Indian skintones.
NYX Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palettes
Price Rs. 1,500. Available here.
“Explore a rainbow of color with the new Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palette by NYX Professional Makeup! Available in two gorgeous color combinations (pastels and peach-tones), both striking sets feature ten bouncy, silky-to-the-touch, eyeshadows in a range of matte and shimmer finishes. Spoiler alert: You are going to freak out when you feel these soft and pillowy shades for the first time. The marshmallow-like texture will remind you of the ever popular Japanese treat—mochi!”
Just like the highlighters, the eyeshadow palettes too come in two variants – Sleek and Chic, a palette with shades of peaches and neutrals for everyday, sophisticated looks, and Electric Pastels, a palette with vivid, shimmering candy colours that is perfect for the festive season.
NYX Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palette Sleek And Chic
Capturing shimmery shades on camera is an incredibly different task and the pictures just don’t do justice to the actual shades. The NYX Sleek And Chic palette has beautiful peachy shades and one really stunning purple and a shimmery grey. Reading the description of these shadows, I had thought the texture would be similar to that of the Colourpop Supershock shadows but it is in fact, quite different. They are soft and bouncy, but not as creamy and spongy as the Colourpop ones. Here are the swatches…
NYX Love You So Mochi Eyeshadow Palette Arcade Glam
A few months ago, I would have barely tried out a couple of shades from this palette. However, now I am enjoying playing with colour on my eyes and I can’t wait to start playing with this one and creating looks that are wearable yet colourful. Check out the swatches.
These shadows look way prettier when you actually see them than they do in the pictures. The colours are also nice and pigmented but because of the shimmer, vey difficult to capture accurately on camera.
NYX Powder Puff Lippies
Price Rs. 650 each. Available here.
“Pucker up and powder your pout! Featuring a pillowy cushion-applicator, the new NYX Professional Makeup Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream goes on mousse-y and sets to a powdery soft finish. Achieve a flush of color in eight vibrant shades—from warm peach to true red, and hot pink to cool plum—for an irresistible, just-kissed look.’
The NYX Powder Puff Lippies have a unique applicator and give a soft matte, blurred kind of effect which is very au-couant these days. There is something oddly satisfying about squeezing the tube and seeing the colour come out onto the applicator. There are eight shades in this collection, all of which are really pretty.
Here are the swatches of all the 8 lippies:
Squad Goals, Pop Quiz and Moody are my favourites from these, but honestly, they’re all lovely colours. Which ones did you like the most?
So, those are all the swatches from the NYX Love You So Mochi Collection – a collection that is available exclusively on Nykaa.com. I believe the Powder Puff Lippies are already out of stock – says a lot about them, doesn’t it? Let me know which product are you most excited about and which ones would you like me to use in a makeup look. Also, would you like a swatch video? Looking forward to reading all your comments
