Since the last month and a half, for my night time skincare routine, I have been using only three products – ones that I bought during my trip to New Zealand from a New Zealand brand, Nellie Tier. This minimalist, aromatic, anti-aging skincare routine has really worked well for my skin and I love how my skin is looking and feeling. Read on to know more…
To be honest, I wasn’t going to shop at all from New Zealand – and I did manage to stick to that except for the last day of the trip, when I gave in to the temptation and bought three products from Nellie Tier – the Face Cleansing Oil, the Face Mist and the Face Oil.
About Nellie Tier
“Nellie Tier was started by Ann Porter and Sara Sadd a decade ago from a desire to create safe, natural, fresh, effective and environmentally acceptable skincare alternatives for their own use. The business grew almost accidentally and today enjoys loyalty from a worldwide clientele. “

Nellie Tier Face Cleansing Oil (NZ$38)
“A soap-free cleansing oil suitable for all skin types, but particularly good for dry skin that is prone to irritation.”
This product isn’t truly a cleansing oil – while it does have several oils in it, the texture is that of a cream. It smells delightful and cleansing my face with this becomes a very therapeutic, relaxing ritual. While it effectively removes light foundation / BB cream /sunscreen and most eye makeup, it doesn’t remove long-wear gel liner / kohl and waterproof mascara.
Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot Kernel) Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose)Floral Water, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Oil, Glycerine (Vegetable BP Grade), D-alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Pure Essential Oil Blend, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract, Geogard 221 Ecocert Preservative Paraben Free (Dehydroacetic Acid & Benzyl Alcohol).
Nellie Tier Face Mist (NZ$26)
“A wonderfully perfumed blend of floral waters designed to refresh and hydrate.
While I have an on-off relationship with toners and don’t regularly use face mists either, the Nellie Tier Face Mist smells so good that it would be a crime not to use it. I spritz this on after cleansing, let the mist settle on my skin for a few seconds before I apply the Nellie Tier Face Oil. I also spritz this on my boys when they return all hot and sweaty from school and it refreshes them too!
Ingredients:
A blend of Floral Waters including Jasmine Grandiflora (Jasmine) and Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage)
Nellie Tier Face Oil (NZ$42)
“This enriching face oil, especially blended for mature skin, combines the finest of vegetable and pure essential oils.”
This is a rich, nourishing oil and just 2-3 drops are adequate for my face and neck. Despite being a rich oil, it doesn’t feel sticky or greasy and when I wake up in the morning, my skin looks radiant and nourished. Though it says to avoid the eye area, I do apply it around my eyes as well as on my lips.
Ingredients:
Corylus Avellana (Hazel Nut) Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia (Macadamia) Oil, Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot Seed) Oil, Pure Essential Oil Blend.
My Views
All these three Nellie Tier products smell lovely and are a delight to use at night since they make my skincare routine a soothing, calming and sensory ritual. While the products are slightly expensive, the quality is exemplary and all the products are fab making them worth the price.
