A radiant yet sensuous fragrance that is perfect for Diwali and the wedding season (especially for brides-to-be) is the new Creed Carmina - a beautiful combination of saffron, black cherry & rose.

Top Notes : Black Cherry, Saffron, Pink Pepper;
Middle Notes : Rose de Mai, Violet, Cashmere Wood, Peony;
Base Notes : Frankincense, Myrrh, Amber, Musk

It opens with a crisp, fresh rose with a hint of saffron and pink pepper, very playful and a bit of a tease. While on paper I can smell a sexy cherry note, it doesn’t manifest on my skin unfortunately.

Once it settles down a bit, it gets woodier and muskier and even more sensuous. The play of the rose & saffron with the woody and musky notes is absolutely beautiful. This would truly be the perfect wedding day fragrance for a bride.

The sillage of Carmina is amazing and it leaves a beautiful trail as you pass by. The longevity is very good too - close to 7 hours! In fact, my husband can still smell this on me after 10 hours but by then it’s more of a skin scent.

Here are some interesting facts about Dhanteras:

* Dhanteras falls on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik (Oct - Nov) and signals the beginning of the festival of Diwali.
* It is named after the Father of Ayurveda, Lord Dhanvantari who emerged from the Samudramanthan on this day with Amrita in one hand.
* Goddess Lakshmi too, is said to have emerged from the Samudramanthan on this day.
* It is believed that things you buy on this day become 13 times more due to the blessings of Lord Kuber, the Lord of wealth and hence considered an auspicious day to buy jewellery, electronics, cars or even a house.
* On Dhanteras a ‘Deep Dan’ is offered to Yamraj the God of Death and Justice to prevent any unfortunate incident like the premature death of a family member. This Yamadeepdaan diya is lit at the house entrance facing the south.
* In some regions, copper vessels are filled with water, tulsi leaves and are kept in different parts of the house.
* In the southern part of India, Marundhu’ - which translates as ‘medicine’ - is made on Dhanteras. The Marundhu is offered during the prayer and eaten in the early morning on Naraka Chaturdasi before sunrise. The Marundhu is consumed to eliminate the imbalance of tridoshas in the body.
