Think beyond water - nariyal pani, chaas, shikanji - electrolyte-rich drinks that actually replenish what the heat takes away. Also consume more water rich foods like cucumber and watermelon and avoid heavy, greasy foods. 🧴SPF is non-negotiable. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen, (and don’t forget your arms, neck & every exposed bit), and re-apply during the day. Sunscreen mists make reapplication easy and mess-free so carry that in your bag. 👚 Breathe easy in cottons & linens - your skin will thank you. Synthetic fabrics usually trap the moisture and are a breeding ground for bacteria that causes rash and other skin issues. Also, avoid very fitted clothes and opt for slightly loose, flowy silhouettes. 🕶️ Shield yourself physically - a cap + sunglasses aren’t just chic, they’re essential. Or arm yourself with an umbrella with UV coating. 🏡 Finally, if you can, stay out of the sun between 12–4; the time when the sun’s rays are the harshest and temperature is at its peak. Yesterday was World Book Day, and those of you who Yesterday was World Book Day, and those of you who know me, know that I’ve been a total bookworm since childhood. Once a month, my parents would take my brother and me to Strand bookstore, a stone’s throw from my parents’ home, and where we would browse and select the books we wanted, always trying to get one extra book added to our allowed limit. Of course, I now read on my Kindle because it is so convenient - hundreds of books in one compact device, I can read late into the night without disturbing my husband, and, now that I have reading glasses, increase the font size so that I don’t strain my eyes. But the one thing that’s constant is my love for reading. And I love to re-read my favourites (which is why I’ve always preferred to buy books rather than borrow from the library) - currently re-reading the Harry Potter series for the nth time.
