Braun Satin Hair 3 Hair Dryer Review

Braun Satin Hair 3 Review

The summer holidays are just round the corner; in fact, for a lot of you the vacations will have already started. I love planning my holiday and working out and booking/reserving everything on my own but that doesn’t leave me with much time for the blog. So please excuse the gaps between the posts…

Anyway, as you know, I blow dry or iron my hair only sometimes since I don’t want to put my hair through a lot of heat styling. Another reason why I don’t blow dry my hair very frequently is my cervical spondylosis. Holding the heavy hairdryer and moving my arms in all directions makes my neck and shoulders stiff and very painful. To avoid that, I had bought a travel sized, foldable hair dryer but that had low wattage and the amount of time needed to style my hair made my hair look worse. And then I got the Braun Satin Hair 3 Hair Dryer; a lightweight dryer with good wattage that styles my hair beautifully and doesn’t make my neck, arms and shoulders hurt…

Braun Satin Hair 3 Review

The Braun Satin Hair 3 is as light as other travel hair dryers and is can be folded for compact storage as well. Add to that 1600 Watt power which is perfect for drying the hair efficiently while maintaining it’s health. It is also an Ionic dryer which means that the ions reduce static electricity and thus help reduce frizziness.  As with most hair dryers, it also comes with a detachable nozzle to direct the air flow for a shinier style.  Here are some other features of this compact yet efficient hair dryer:

Anti Over Heating – The back of the Braun Satin Hair 3 is slanted at a 20-degree angle to prevent the hair from blocking the filter and thus overheating the dryer.

Anti Dry-Out – With it’s ideally calibrated fan technology, these dryers distribute the heat evenly so that the hair gets dried efficiently without drying out. The anti dry-out function also prevents dangerous “hot-spots” and makes sure your hair stays healthy and shiny.

Anti Hair Breakage – The Braun Satin Hair 3 is fitted with an ingenious mesh filter at the back which protects the hair from being sucked into and getting tangled inside the appliance, thus preventing hair breakage. The filter can also be removed for easy cleaning of the dryer. However, though it isn’t that dirty yet, I have still not been able to figure out how to remove the filter for cleaning. Hope by the time I actually need to clean it, I can manage to remove it.

It also has three heat and air flow settings to match the needs of the hair type and the styling requirements. Whenever I use a dryer, I use it on damp, not wet hair. So I wait till my hair is about 50% dry and then style it using the higher setting so that the hair dries faster. The model that I have, HD 350, doesn’t have a cool shot button but the version HD 310 does have it. The cool shot button basically works to blast your hairstyle with cool air to “set” the style and cool the hair down. Pity this model doesn’t have it.

One really good thing about the Braun Satin Hair 3 is that it is multi-voltage. Which means that you can carry it with you on your travels and can use it in any country by just switching the voltage setting on the handle. And like I said, once folded, it becomes compact and doesn’t take up too much space in the bag.

Price

The original price for the Braun Satin Hair 3 was around ₹3,200 but you can find it online at good discounts. The version HD 310 especially makes for a good buy since it also has the Cool Shot button and has 1700 watt power.

My views

For those of you who are looking for a compact hair dryer without compromising on the power/wattage, then you should check out this one. What I personally really liked was that it was efficient and yet lightweight. If, like me, you too have spondylosis or any kind of back problems, then this is a really good buy.
