Vinotherapie For Your Skin – Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion Review

Vinotherapie is the process in which grapes or by-products of grapes from wine-making are used on the skin. There are several spas in France offering Vinotherapie but I couldn’t indulge in it on my trip to Paris coz there was so much to see and do! Anyway, I digress….In my November Vellvette box, I had received a 30ml sample of Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion.

Here’s what Caudalie says about this lotion: Full of highly nutritious active ingredients, the Nourishing Body Lotion immediately moisturizes your skin with a long-lasting effect so that it regains its softness and elasticity. The grape Polyphenols prevents premature ageing of the skin and ginkgo biloba activates micro-circulation. Your skin is firmer, radiant, protected and energized. Its creamy texture is very quickly absorbed to leave a delicately fragranced velvety sheen on your skin.
No Paraben, No Phenoxyethanol, No Pthalates, Dermatologically Tested.

Caudalie is one of the brands that I’ve been wanting to try since quite some time, especially their face serum. I was really happy to see this in my first ever Vellvette box but when I tried it on my body in winter, I felt my skin needed something richer to combat the dryness. So I stowed it away for use in summer coz my skin needs to be pampered with lotion even in summer.

The white coloured lotion is quite thick, more like a gel creme texture, and is non-greasy. It gets absorbed immediately into the skin and doesn’t leave any shiny or greasy layer behind. It instantly smoothened and softened my skin and left it feeling very supple. However, in winter, on my severly dry skin, I had to reapply the lotion after around 5-6 hours while in summer, it gives me all day hydration.

The one thing that I really love about this lotion is its fragrance. It’s very hard to actually describe this fragrance which is very fresh but not very fruity, with a tinge of aquatic maybe. My nose really loves it but can’t describe it accurately. The fragrance also lingers for a couple of hours on my skin.

The sample that I got came in a plastic tube with a screw on cap which is great for travelling, whereas the full sized product comes in a plastic bottle with a pump. I don’t know if the pump can be locked or not so it might not be that great an option for travelling. The bottle holds 250 ml of the product and is priced at Rs. 1800. Yes, it is expensive, but then Caudalie is a very premium French brand.

At this time, I’m confused whether I would repurchase it or not as it is very expensive for a body lotion. Well, let this tube come to an end and then I shall ponder this dilemma…lol.
