I had gone to the L’Occitane store recently to stock up on my favourite Shea Butter Foot Creams and I saw these little pots of solid perfume in my favourite collection, Pivoine Flora (read how much I love it’s shower cream here). Now, I don’t know whether these are recent additions to the Pivoine Flora Range or I simply didnt know about them coz I had ordered the shower cream and body lotion online, but I was intrigued when I saw them and just had to buy one.
L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Solid Perfume Review
The Good:
The Pivoine Flora solid perfume comes in a cute little 10gm tin pot with the flower embossed on it. This little “dibbi” is so cute and compact and perfectly fits into the tiniest of clutches which makes it very travel-friendly and great for touch ups during the day. The fragrance, obviously, is the reason why I bought it as I love the Pivoine Flora fragrance.
The Bad:
The price and the lasting power. Rs. 650 for a 10gm tin is definitely on the higher side but well, it’s L’Occitane. I wouldn’t have counted the price as the negative quality had the fragrance lasted better but in less than a couple of hours, I find that the fragrance disappears and I have to reapply. When I layer it over the shower cream and body lotion, the fragrance does last longer but I think that’s more to do with the body lotion than the solid perfume. When worn on its own, two hours is the max it lasts on me.
The Okay:
Since the primary ingredient is paraffin (like with most solid perfumes), its obvious that the texture is like hardened Vaseline. This makes it easy to apply on the pulse points. It also, makes it quite greasy when you keep piling it onto the pulse points every couple of hours!!! After 3-4 applications, in the Bombay heat and humidity, it begins to feel greasy and sticky…….
…..Ergo, though I really love the fragrance of Pivoine Flora, I’m quit disappointed with the staying power of this solid perfume. This collection also has a fragrance rollerball which is also very slim and portable. I feel like I should have bought that instead of this. Oh well, perhaps the next time I go there 😉
Yaa I saw them in store here in uk..bt nt sure abt india though
Yes, it is generally less but just two hours? And it wasnt olfactory saturation. Made my kids n hubby smell my wrists too but they barely got the faintest whiff.
Not sure if body shop has solid perfumes. They do have perfume oils though.
OMG 650 only for a 10gm tin? I bought a solid perfume from Thann in Bangalore and paid around 950 or 1k for the same size! I think the staying power of solids in general is less than that of liquid perfumes. Still, love the concept and will keep buying 😉
Its expenxive but sad to lnow that it dint lasted long..,
