Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish Orange Fix…And A Little Attempt At Nail Art.

After garnering rave reviews abroad, Maybelline New York finally launched their Color Show range of nail polishes in India. Though, at times, I am quite a “snob” when it comes to beauty products, and I really love my Lancômes and Chanels and Estees, one drugstore brand I’m really fond of is Maybelline (and sometimes Revlon too…for their lippies… Oh, and Bourjois too, but that’s not really drugstore). Anyway, here’s what Maybelline says about their new polishes….

  • Stay right on trend from your tips to your toes with new Maybelline Color Show. Our gel based formula with color popping pigments, comes in 40 bold, super stylish shades that look great on nails. So go on, mix, match and make the most of color. We’ve got a shade for every mood. You can pick from funky colors like Downtown Red, Berry Sexy, Midnight Taupe, Mint Mojito, Lavender Lies and Pink Voltage.

The polishes come in cylindrical glass bottles with a black cap that has Maybelline Color Show on it with the shade name and number on the cap. The actual bottle has no branding except for a sticker which gives the manufacturing details etc. I wouldn’t call the packaging chic, but when the colours are lined up together, they just look lovely.

And talking of colours, Maybelline has come our with 40 colours that are so pretty, that it is a very difficult task to select. From creme finishes, to shimmers, they have it all covered.

If you follow my blog, you will know that I go gaga over polishes from Bourjois and recently, Lancome, and one of the most important reasons for that is the brush. I hate brushes that are very thin and need a million strokes to cover one nail. The Color Show polishes have a nice, thick brush (comparable with the Bourjois So Laque polishes) and make applying polish faster and neater.

The texture of the polish too, is excellent. Again, in terms of pigmentation and glossiness, I would say that Maybelline Color Show is at par with Bourjois and Lancôme. What you see on my nails is just two coats of polish, no top coat. It doesn’t take ages to dry, and retains the glossiness even after drying. (Unlike Colorbar which lose their shine and glossiness once dry…at least that happened with me…what about you?)
