Black Diamond. The words evoke images of muted black precious stones that shimmer and sparkle softly. Not flashy, not in-your-face bling, just subtle elegance (depending on the design of course). I guess that’s exactly why Clinique must have named is Cream Shaper For Eyes in the shade black as Black Diamond.
My first Clinique Cream Shaper For Eyes in Black Diamond was from a Marionnaud on Bahnofstrasse in Zurich in 2009. It was the only shimmer/glitter liner I had seen which didn’t have very obvious chunky glitter and that’s why I bought it. Even though we soon had a Clinique store in Bombay, the Cream Shapers weren’t available there. So, after that, I either repurchased it while travelling or asked mom to get it for me whenever she went to USA.
If these pictures look a little funny to you, it’s because I’ve taken those pictures in the car on my way to pic up my younger son from his school. It’s so hectic and chaotic these days that this was the only way I could squeeze in time to take pictures!
Anyway, getting back to this liner, it truly lives up to it’s name “Cream Shaper” since it is really soft and creamy. It doesn’t tug or pull the delicate skin on the eyelids but just glides on. The shimmer too, is extremely fine, not huge, chunky gritty pieces of glitter that some liners have.
If you find glitters to be too girly, you should go for this liner because it looks beautiful and sophisticated. I can even wear it on my water line because the shimmer is so fine that it doesn’t scratch, irritate or make my eyes water. It lasts decently enough for about 6 hours but it does smudge a bit, especially if you have oily eyelids or if you rub your eyes. It isn’t jet black either but a soft greyish-black.
While I’m usually quite particular about thoroughly cleansing my face before sleeping, this is one product I love to leave on because of the way it looks the next morning. It smudges slightly and gives a softly smoky look with the shimmer just adding to it’s beauty.
I had bought two of these from strawberrynet.com (haul post here) when they had this product on their daily special for Rs. 800 (it is normally priced around Rs. 1200). The first one just got over so I took out the second one today and realised that I hadn’t reviewed this though it’s been one of my favourite liners since five years!!! The brown colour in this is also available there but I feel that won’t show up on my skintone. The other two colours I’m lusting after are Egyptian (blackened green with gold pearl) and Starry Plum (deep plum with soft luminescence). These liners are truly creamy and wonderful and worth the price.
Have you tried the Clinique Cream Shapers? Which is your favourite glitter liner – liquid or pencil?
honestly m not sooo much a glitter person…bt this one looks more gunmetal-y than black…is it??liked it in the pic though…wud def want to c an EOTD in some look of urs…
It is really lovely 🙂
I agree 🙂
That’s the problem with glitter liners, esp if you want to wear them on the lower lash line/waterline. This one has shimmers rather than glitter and doesn’t irritate the eyes at all 🙂
Yes, the pics have been taken in in the car…. I mentioned that in the post. It was the only time I got in the busy week to take pics :p
I simply love it 🙂
nice review…. it has awesome pigmentation and correct amount of shimmers… would love an eotd 🙂 btw have you taken the pics inside a car? 🙂
this is beautiful black shade
omg…. thats a beautiful one!! I bought a glitter liner from Lioele sometime back and i find the glitter bit harsh on my sensitive eyes, but as such its a great liner though. This seems like would suit me perfectly *-*
wow a pretty liner….
definitely will check this out …
