While writing the title of this post, I thought I would write the places geographically; either East to West – Dubai, Milan and London – or West to East – London, Milan and Dubai. However, I finally settled on doing it chromatically, going from light to dark. Confused? Well, I’m not talking about the actual cities, I’m talking about the Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge which has some fabulous colours named after some of the beautiful cities of the world, in the shades Milan, Dubai and London…
Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge Review of shades Milan, Dubai and London
About the Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge
“Our first rich mousse matte cushiony lip colour with GelLite technology and a Lip Hug applicator delivers:
- Elastic Infinite Wear
- Superb Hydration
- Fine Line Filler
- Inbuilt Lipstain
Anti-feathering technology combines with cushiony comfort for defined lip colour; no lip-liner necessary!
The superb hydrating formula fills in lip lines and is extremely long lasting. With an in-built stain that allows the lip colour to wear off evenly, never leaving you with patchy colour!
The flexible Mattfinity Colour glides on, provides cushion and stays elastic and vibrant without drying out the lips, fills in fine lines and helps stop moisture evaporation. From day to night lips stay confident in colour, wear and care.”
The Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge are packaged like lip glosses and have a curved applicator similar to the one in the Lancome Gloss In Love. The tube is black with silver lettering on the cap spelling out the shade name. The lower half of the tube shows the lipstick shade making it easy to find the shade you want.
While the packaging is like a lipgloss, the texture is like a lip-creme. Incredibly lightweight, incredibly pigmented with an airy-creamy-mousse-like texture, these Lip Rouges are a delight to wear! A thin layer on the lips gives opaque, pigmented colour which feels like second skin. Unlike most matte lipsticks, this one doesn’t make the lips feel dry at all and you actually don’t feel like there is anything on your lips. I used them without lining my lips with a lip liner and there was no feathering or bleeding, even after eating.
The lasting power varies across these three shades with the lightest one, Milan, fading in around 4-5 hours to London lasting for almost the entire day (8-9 hours) ! Perhaps because Milan is almost similar to my natural lip colour (I am wearing it here), it appears to fade faster as compared to the other brighter shades. These aren’t totally transfer proof, however and you’ll leave behind a bit of colour on your coffee mug or glass of water. Food will cause some fading on the inner rim of the lip but it doesn’t look bad or patchy.
Milan
Milan is a deep nude which looks like a perfect MLBB shade for those with medium and tan skintones. On fair skinned girls, it would look slightly more brownish but yet a wonderful shade for work. With it’s soft matte weightless texture, it looks extremely chic and sophisticated.
Dubai
Dubai is a gorgeous, bright fuchsia pink that would look good on everyone. For some reason, the lip swatch pictures, while showing very accurate shades on my mobile, are looking very dull on my laptop. Perhaps it has something to do with the colour settings? I hope the colour shows accurately on whatever device you are reading this. To give you a better idea of the shade, I’d say it is almost identical to MAC’s Girl About Town.
This shade brightens up my face and even if I wear it with just a thin swipe of liner on the eyes and no other makeup, it still looks fabulous.
London
Probably my favourite shade of the three (though I have been wearing Milan almost everyday since it is such an MLBB shade), London is a deep berry / wine shade that is simply stunning! The colour is very close to Sonam Kapoor’s Pure Garnet shade in the L’Oreal Pure Reds collection but the texture, as I mentioned, is so very different!
