Summer time is the time for strappy sleeveless clothes. This is also the time when we girls want to be free from body hair for as long as possible. Epilators are among the most convinient ways of hair removal since you can do it at home and yet be hair-free for upto 4 weeks at a time! I have, earlier, reviewed the Braun Silk Epil 9 which is one of the premium epilators and comes with a variety of different attachments including a body brush. For those who simply want a fuss-free, no-nonsense epilator at an affordable price, there’s the Braun Silk Epil 3170. Read on to know more about this epilator….
Braun Silk Epil 3170 Review
About the Braun Silk Epil 3170
“The Silk Epil 3170 is a great option for easy hair removal. 20 tweezers remove hair at the root and leave your skin smooth while the Smartlight helps you see every fine hair so none are missed. The Silk Epil 3170 features massaging rollers that smoothly stimulate and massage your skin to ease the epilation and increase the comfort in your beauty routine.”
The Braun Silk Epil 3170 has a comfortable, ergonomic design, is compact and looks nice as well. The Smartlight is a very welcome addition in an economy range epilator because it can be a tedious task twisting your hand to get enough light to see all the hair. And you invariably end up missing some. This was the one feature that I had really loved in the Silk Epil 9 and I am really glad that Braun has added it to this range as well.
While the Silk Epil 3170 is smaller in size than the Silk Epil 9 and also features a smaller epilator head, it doesn’t compromise on the features. The 3170 also has massaging beads and “Softlift tips” to lift up even flat lying hair and guide them into the tweezers. The head doesn’t swivel, however, so one needs to be careful near difficult areas such as the knees and the elbows.
Just like the first Silk Epil to hit the market in the mid-90s, the 3170 too needs to be plugged in to work. No wire-free operations here. Thankfully, the cord of the adaptor is quite long so you can get to the hard to reach areas without much difficulty. And obviously it’s can’t be used in the shower.
As with the other variants of the Silk Epil, the 3170 also has two speed settings. It comes with a warranty card, the adaptor cord and a little brush to clean the epilator head from all the hair stuck in the tweezers. No shaver head or other fancy attachments here.
The one thing I dislike about all the different Braun devices is that each one has a different design for the adaptor / charger head. The adaptor for the Silk Epil 9 doesn’t fit into the Silk Epil 3170 and vice versa while the Braun Face works on battery! Wish all these devices would function with a common adaptor cord.
Priced at ₹3,195 (but available online at discounted rates), the Braun Silk Epil 3170 is a super affordable, very efficient, fuss-free epilator. It has a nice compact design and looks pretty too! What more could you ask for?
