One of the collections I look forward to each year is the one from L’Oreal Paris for the Cannes Film Festival. Besides the usual lipsticks and lip glosses, what excited me the most this year was the launch of the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners in a variety of colours. There’s nothing I like more than coloured liners – especially those that come in a pencil form since they are the easiest to apply – because that’s a surefire way of glamming up your look in a matter of seconds. Ever since I have got these liners, I’ve been hooked. Read on to know more about the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners….
L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review
About the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner
“Indulge your eyes in silk. Glide on smooth intensity with our first silk inspired liquid pencil. Introducing Silkissime by Infallible. Our smudge-proof formula lasts for up to 16-hours of intense color from dusk until dawn. Gives a delicate, silky shiny look with ultimate perfection in a single stroke.”
I was sent 4 shades – 220 Plum, 240 Pure Purple, 280 Gold and 290 Silver. Of these, it was love at first sight with Pure Purple and as you can see from the pictures, I didn’t even wait to take pictures before wearing it. It has been the liner I reach out for most frequently to add a dash of colour to my waterline.
The L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners are gel liners in the form of slim pencils that unfortunately need to be sharpened. (I hate eye pencils that need sharpening and prefer twist up ones). As you can see from the picture, I have used the purple one so much that it is desperately in need of sharpening.
The Gold and the Silver colours are, of course, metallic but without any shimmer. Pure Purple and Plum have a creamy matte finish. They are also beautifully pigmented giving intense colour in just one stroke. While the Gold and Silver aren’t really very wearable but they are pretty for layering with darker shades to create a dimensional or an ombre look. The other two shades are fabulous and ones that I have been alternating with everyday.
The texture is super smooth and soft and the pencil just glides onto the lid. L’Oreal wasn’t joking when it said “silk inspired liquid pencil” because that is truly how it feels while going on. The soft texture made me feel that the pencil might smudge but to my pleasant surprise, it didn’t budge! I had applied the purple one on my waterline in the evening the day I got these pencils – it lasted me the entire night and since I was too exhausted to cleanse my makeup that night (if you follow me on Snapchat, you would have seen that picture of me at 3am), it stayed put without smudging till morning! When I woke up the next day, the pretty purple liner was on my waterline quite intact. The Silkissime liners certainly live up to L’Oreal’s claims of 16 hour wear time and I can vouch for that from personal experience.
I did try to create a fun eye look with the Silver and the Gold where I blended the Silver along with a black to create an ombre look and Gold on my water line.
The texture, the pigmentation, the longevity of the Silkissime Eyeliners is fabulous. But you know what’s even better? The price….
Yes, the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners are priced at ₹575 each! Now compare that with another new launch where the pencils (though they are the twist-up kind) are priced at ₹850.
With 8 gorgeous shades, amazing pigmentation, incredibly smooth texture and great longevity, the L’Oreal Silkissime Liners, for me, are the star products from L’Oreal’s Cannes 2016 collection. If you haven’t checked them out, do so. I am definitely getting the True Teal and Charcoal as well because they look really pretty too.
Have you tried the new L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners? Which is your favourite shade? Did you like the Silver and Gold eye look I did? Do let me know your views in the comments below.
